****BUSINESS LOANS AND UNEMPLOYMENT HELP****

To all Bearoff & Associates business clients,

All of us here hope you are doing well, and are staying safe and healthy during the Coronavirus pandemic.
I know this is a very trying time for us all. I don’t believe any of us have experienced anything like this in our lifetime. Hopefully, this will all be over soon.

UNEMPLOYMENT

Over the years, it has been Unemployment’s stance that business owners of S and C Corporations who take payroll through their companies were not allowed to collect unemployment. Their reasoning is that business owners would go on unemployment every time their business would hit a slow patch. As far as I know, that still has not changed. However, I have heard from clients over the years that they have tried and were able to collect. So, if you are experiencing hardships right now due to not working and you’re unable to take payroll, it would not hurt to try to file a claim and see if you get accepted. You can do this through the PA

There have been some changes with the Federal Government’s collectable unemployment system. They have recently passed legislation called Federal CARES. This Act will provide
benefits of up to $600.00 per week to self-employed individuals such as: Sole-Proprietors, Sole Member LLCs, and Partnerships that do not take payroll through their companies and do not pay into the unemployment system. Unfortunately, as of today, no guidance has been given to apply for this assistance. PA unemployment has some information regarding this on their website:

BUSINESS LOANS AND GRANTS

Due to the Government Stimulus bill that was passed over the weekend, there are options out there for loan assistance:

Some counties are offering a Disaster Grant that does not have to be paid back. Please check your county’s website for information. I know these are going quick and may not be available for much longer.

The SBA is offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans (“EIDL”) through their website: https://covid19relief.sba.gov/ #/
The SBA has been receiving so many applications, that they are experiencing lengthy delays in the approval process and receiving the funds.

New legislation has now produced the Paycheck Protection Program or PPP. The Paycheck Protection Program (“PPP”) authorizes up to $349 billion in forgivable loans to small businesses to pay their employees during the COVID-19 crisis. Most banks will be
offering these loans. You will need to check with your local bank to find out if you have this option. Even if your bank does not offer this, you may still be qualified to receive this loan through another bank. The application process starts April 3rd
****Please know that you are only able to apply for either the SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (“EIDL”) or the Paycheck Protection Program (“PPP”). Businesses that have already received the “EIDL” may refinance the loan into the Paycheck Protection Program for loan forgiveness purposes.****

To all Bearoff & Associates clients,

All of us here hope you all are doing well, staying healthy and safe with this Coronavirus pandemic. I know this is a very trying time for everyone. I don’t believe any of us have experienced
anything like this before in our lifetime. Hopefully, this will all be over soon.

TAX PREPARATION

Currently, the Internal Revenue Service has extended the filing and tax due payment deadline to July 15th. However, we would like to prepare as many returns as possible by the 30th of April. We wanted to let you know that we are currently open and preparing returns, just not in person. You can provide your tax documents to us through the mail, email, your secure portal or by dropping off the information at our office. Our current hours for drop off or pick up are Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm.

If we have already notified you that your returns are completed, but you still need to send us your signed forms along with payment, please contact the office to make arrangements so we can
get your returns filed and provide you with any vouchers or local returns you will need to finalize the 2019 filing year. Please allow up to 72 hours after your tax filings are accepted for us to get you these documents.

We cannot promise that any information for tax return preparation received after April 30th will be completed by the July 15th deadline. You may have to be put on extension as we will also be working on catching up on the monthly services we handle for some clients. So, please do not wait to send us your information. Even if we file early, and you owe taxes, the payment is not due until the 15th of July.

Amazing how things have changed in a few short weeks. 20+ years in this service industry and this is what things have come to due to the virus, limiting personal interactions. We will still get your taxes done on time, while providing the same level of care, concern and effort.
