We are pleased to announce that Partner Lindsay Harrison has been named office managing partner of our Washington, DC, office. Lindsay’s appointment follows the tenure of Partner Sam Feder, who served in the position for seven years.



Under Sam’s leadership, our DC office has grown through strategic recruitment of laterals, attracting top talent from both government and private practice. The office built the nation’s premier Native American Law Practice and expanded our elite regulatory and government controversies practices.

In the last 18 months alone, the DC office has brought on former FTC officials Christopher Abbott, Doug Litvack, and Christopher Renner; Michelle Kallen, former solicitor general of Virginia; Marcus A.R. Childress, former investigative counsel from the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the US Capitol; Shreve Ariail, former deputy general counsel of the CIA; and Emily Loeb, a former Associate Deputy Attorney General at the US Department of Justice, among others.

The office also attracted leading energy regulatory advisor and litigator, John Estes, and a leading international arbitration lawyer, Kenneth Beale, from other AmLaw 100 firms.



At the same time, the office deepened its commitment to the next generation of lawyers, by investing in pipeline programs, including SEO Law, and the Mansfield Diversity initiative. Fifty-eight percent of the lawyers in the office are diverse, and the 2022 summer class in DC was 92% diverse. The last three new partners classes have been more than 60% diverse.

A holistic investigations practitioner, Marcus A.R. Childress leverages his extensive investigative and trial experience to guide clients through parallel inquiries. He recently served as investigative counsel to the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the US Capitol, conducting more than 60 depositions and interviews of key witnesses. Marcus is an active member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, serving as a Washington, DC, city co-lead. He is an alum of the council’s 2020 Pathfinder’s Program.

As the pro bono partnership lawyer in the firm’s Pro Bono Department, Angelina Smith coordinates and manages the Pro Bono Client Partnership Program, which has grown and become tremendously popular with the firm’s clients. Previously, Angelina was a work equity lawyer in the Talent and Development Department, where she ensured that work was equitably staffed among junior associates and that they were helped in gaining opportunities to develop their skill sets.

We are excited to announce that Annie Kastanek joined Jenner & Block this week as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office and as a member of the Appellate and Supreme Court and the Investigations, Compliance, and Defense practices. Annie is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of Appeals of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.

As Chief of Appeals, Annie supervised the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s criminal appellate practice in the Seventh Circuit and counseled prosecutors, supervisors, and trial teams on legal and strategic issues arising in the office’s most complex prosecutions. She previously clerked on the U.S. Supreme Court and the Seventh Circuit.
