Although we are staying open as usual at the Polyclinic Pharmacy, we wanted to show our solidarity for our fellow pharmacists and technicians working at these chain stores. The chain stores have been mistreating the pharmacists for many years now! Especially, CVS which owns Caremark which is a PBM and is a known abuser of pharmacists rights along with other PBMs like Optum who blatantly pay us less than our cost many times and then threaten us to stop us from even letting the patients know what they are doing. Believe or not, they reimburse us less than a dollar( that includes the medication and the bottle and label and the pharmacist’s and the technicians time and all the other overhead costs) on many prescriptions a day. They are shameless and have no ethics, and have no intention of changing anything. That is why you see pharmacies closing all the time. All this adversely effects the services that you as patients receive. All this time, they make record profits year after year, that they proudly announce in their financial reports to increase their share prices.

****The update you have been waiting for****: The KS, MO and surrounding areas are still Walking out tomorrow, Wednesday September 27th!

My sincere apologies for the late update. There have been negotiations between the organizers of the Walkout and very high executives of CVS Health . At the end of meeting, demands were made and agreement was achieved. Two sets of demands were made with specific timelines to be accomplished.

It was understood that an accord was made which would have ultimately resulted at a postponing( NOT cancelling) of the Walkout until everyone could come back together at the table to create actionable steps which will better working conditions and allow patients to have access to safe and optimal care.

However, it looks like this was simply an attempt from CVS Health to waste time so that the word will not get out on time to inform everyone that the KS and MO areas Walkout was still happening.

This is such a disappointment and ultimately it speaks volume of the character and the values of this company and its leaders.

A public statement from CVS Health has been issued to the media which will go out tomorrow! But it does not speak about anything that was said during that meeting.

The KS, MO and surrounding areas are still Walking out tomorrow.

This is the latest update I have.

As a profession, I invite all of us to support them in any way we can. Please remember that myself or the organizers out of KS , MO and other areas are NOT asking you to do this . While they appreciate your support, they are asking for unity whatever it looks like to you. Myself and they do not want to cause personal harm to you. But there is indeed strength in numbers.

In honor of tomorrow, change your profile picture across social media to the picture on my advocacy pages or the various other graphics you have seen on social media. And wear arm/ wrist band with color like blue, purple, yellow or black to stand in unity and solidarity. And share them on social media.

Lastly, speed the word as this message is so late out. Send this to news outlets. We have a lot of coverage coming out tomorrow!

We are strong together! And they have messed. with the wrong profession!

These days these chain pharmacies are offering all these bonuses to pharmacists to join but there is a caveat. They, sometimes want to whole bonus back with interest if you don’t stay for the period specified on the contract. It’s tricky for sure. See, the comments by some pharmacists who experienced the horror.

If a person accepts a 2 year sign-on bonus with a retail pharmacy and has 9 months left to complete the contract, how much would the person have to pay back if he/she decided to transfer to a different retail pharmacy. Is it the full amount regardless of how much time the person has before the 2 year contract is over?

We are also limiting deliveries as well. Our phone lines will be very busy at this time. If you cannot get through please try calling again or leave a voicemail.
