I bet you wish your middle school looked like this when you were in 6th grade. Mr. Newburg, History and Language and Lit teacher, takes learning to a new level as he brings ancient studies to life through STEM. Today’s lesson had students mummifying apples by working to create the best formula, incorporating science, math and their knowledge from their studies, and students were all in with this challenge. Other pictures include previous STEM in action in history and language classes by creating unique cuneiforms and replicating the ancient art of basket weaving. Our students truly get the best education at Channing Hall. Why go anywhere else??

The GATEway at Channing Hall: Gifted and Talented, Universal Testing, Grades 2nd-8th

Our programming is growing and the next step is exciting. Our MTSS team is becoming one of the best, and we at Channing are now taking things even higher in a new direction. In October, we will be administering a universal screening to all students enrolled in grades 2nd-8th for gifted and talented potential. This is our Gateway beginning, which stands for Gifted and Talented Education, the Channing Hall way. We are thrilled to offer this screening, at NO COST, for our currently enrolled 2nd through 8th grade students. More information will be coming. Tell your friends and neighbors, testing will occur in October.

Yesterday, during the Education Interim Committee meeting, we presented legislators with an update on SB 127 (2022) along with the 3rd grade (Lexiles, not Acadience Reading benchmark nor RISE) reading on grade level data to provide an update on where the state and each LEA are at in regards to making the 2027 goal of 70% of 3rd graders reading on grade level. In addition to that meeting, a press release was shared with the public. All LEA heads were notified of this last week.

You guys, our student films are amazing! We are so excited to share them with you on Friday at our Film Festival and Family Movie Night. We will start with our student productions and then present our feature film, Raya and the Last Dragon. We will have refreshments available for purchase.
