First year without "teeth" in the grill. Previous models had prominent "teeth" in the grill area. The 1961 model replaced this with a more understated horizontal grill, giving the front end a cleaner look. The rear was completely restyled to the current four taillights we know today.

The 1980 model was lighter and leaner. Chevrolet made significant efforts to reduce the weight of the Corvette. Aluminum was used for the differential housing and cross member, while thinner body panels and redesigned components helped to shave off around 250 pounds from the previous year's model.

The 1985 Corvette introduced the Tuned Port Injection system. This advanced fuel injection system improved the engine's performance and fuel efficiency. The 5.7-liter V8 engine, known as the L98, produced 230 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful Corvettes at the time.
