The Board of Trustees created a task force to address the issue of emergency department (ED) overcrowding in Pennsylvania. Led by President-Elect, Kristen Sandel, MD, the task force issued a letter to Governor Shapiro, urging him to address this issue at a state level.

Congratulations to Dr. Jeffrey P. McGovern who was awarded the 2022 PAMED Everyday Hero Award.

The nomination for this award states, "This Pulmonologist and Sleep Medicine specialist is a well-defined leader in our local medical community. He is a past president of the Erie County Medical Society (ECMS) and is active within specialty societies in the field of sleep medicine. He guided the ECMS throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that this local medical society was active during the tumultuous time of the pandemic. He is a thoughtful and inclusive leader within the profession of medicine. Dr. McGovern is involved in resident and medical student education where he has been a strong mentor to these trainees."
