Recently published online by the Journal of Wildlife Management, Yurok-wildlife Relationships Through the Context of Traditional Ecological Knowledge co-authored by Dr. Seafha C. Ramos, Tiana Williams-Claussen, and Celina Gray discusses various aspects of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and how they continue to be integrated in the wildlife conservation and management discourse with the challenges in cross-cultural understanding of the complex social-ecological systems that make up the fabric of TEK.

Amazing work by the Southwest Fire Science Consortium on their new science synthesis, Fire in the Sonoran Desert. Funded by the Arizona Wildfire Initiative, this important synthesis asks questions such as, "What is the ecological trajectory of the Sonoran Desert? What should we be managing for?" For we want to share the Southwest Fire Science Consortium Lower Gila Restoration and Fire Risk Reduction video. This video is meant to raise awareness about wildfire risk on or near the Lower Gila River and surrounding communities and the collaborative work being done to reduce this threat as well as inform people about the habitat and importance of restoration in this segment of the Gila River. Our local chapters of Xi Sigma Pi and SAFE Club partnered with Terra BIRDS at Ponderosa High School to propagate more than 150 to be used for restoration projects! We also helped remove invasive Scales from the planted trees and prepped soil for future use. We had a great time working together, and we look forward to working with Terra BIRDS again soon!
The School of Forestry has a lot of fun things going on! Between Logging NAU Logging Sports competing a few weekends ago and IFSA creating new shirts there's always something new to explore!

At the Joint Annual Meeting of the Arizona Chapter of The Wildlife Society , New Mexico Chapter of The Wildlife Society, and Arizona/New Mexico American Fisheries Society, Makayla Grandpre won the Best Poster Award! Hers was one of about 40 posters the conference.
