We had another great Open Water class this weekend! Kristi, Kale, Russell, Joey, Brendan, Donny and Daniel all worked extremely hard and were great students. In spite of the weather conspiring against us, we did what we do best. We made five new safe, confident and comfortable SCUBA divers! We had a great weekend with BSA Troop 1534 at The Original Vortex Spring. We had the honor of certifying 9 new divers as they get ready for Sea Base! We are saddened to hear of the passing of one of our former SCUBA students. Please pray for his family, friends and co-workers.

(Atlanta, GA) – The Georgia Department of Public Safety is saddened to announce the line-of-duty death of Trooper First Class Chase Redner #290. On February 20, 2024, TFC Redner was investigating a vehicle crash on Interstate 75 North near Mt. Zion Boulevard in Clayton County when he was struck by a vehicle. TFC Redner was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he passed away. The investigation is being conducted by the Troop C Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team and is ongoing.

TFC Redner has been employed with the Georgia Department of Public Safety since September 2017 and was a graduate of the 103rd Trooper School.

The Department of Public Safety sends its sincerest condolences and prayers to TFC Redner’s family and co-workers. Please keep TFC Redner’s family in your prayers as they cope with the loss of their loved one.

Molly and Diego logged their first night dive as they work towards their Advanced OW certifications! Last but certainly not least, JD logged his 100th dive on Saturday!
