Eagle Ranch

We serve children and families, providing the support and care needed to work through crisis.

08/15/2024

In 2023, we saw a 60% increase in calls for help—750 in total—each representing a family in crisis.

This rise in need has driven us to innovate and expand our services more than ever before. Our growth includes not only enhancing our core residential program but also introducing new services to address immediate needs and prevent emerging crises.

Thanks to the unwavering support of our donors and our dedication to stewardship, we proudly continue our mission as a debt-free organization. Your generosity helps us serve and uplift the families and children who rely on us.

Listen as Andy Nelson, Director of Spiritual Life, explains the concept of co-regulation and how it helps children move from a dysregulated state to a calm one.

Just as a parent soothes a crying baby by holding and comforting them, we as parents can support our teenagers by maintaining a posture of calm and connection, even when they are having a hard time. By understanding and practicing co-regulation, we can guide our children towards emotional stability.

Every summer, our boys and girls participate in Horse Camp.

Led by our Equine team, children in our programs get hands-on experience working with horses. This fun and educational camp helps kids face fears, tackle new challenges and enjoy being around the barn. It's an eagerly awaited time when boys and girls can bond with peers and learn more about these incredible animals.

Dysregulation is a state where a child shifts from their thinking brain to their fight, flight or freeze response. This can manifest as tantrums or intense emotional outbursts, showing that the child is not in a calm and settled state.

By recognizing and understanding dysregulation, we can better support our children through these challenging moments, helping them manage their emotions and return to a state of calm.
