With only three weeks until Batman Day, we present our first creator spotlight on Seth Damoose! Award winning comic book artist and Eisner nominated Seth Damoose was born from the frozen tundra of Lake Michigan. Seth Damoose entered the world with a salt-and-pepper beard so perfect, that God herself wept at the creation. With a lifelong fascination with drawing and the drive and determination of a Detroit muscle car, Seth set out to carve his niche in the comic world. After being told that his style was more VW Beetle than Ford Mustang, Seth opted to forego traditional training and hone a style the profits would call “Too Cartoony.” His clients include Image Comics, IDW, SPP, Devils Due and more. He will be attending from 11a-2p on Sat. Sept. 21st.

Prepare yourself for a night with Betrayal at House on the Hill. Wes & Aubrie from JAFAX will be leading this entertaining game. This free event will be on Sat. Sept. 28th starting at 6 pm.

Here are some highlights from this week's New Comic Book Day! Tom King writes the new Archie: The Decision for ARCHIE COMICS. Sesame Street returns to comic form with a new #1 from Oni Press! The 30th anniversary of Zero Hour #1 is celebrated with new stories in this one-shot by DC Comics. BOOM! Studios also releases a one-shot with BRZRKR: The Lost Book of B #1. Image Comics has two #1's this week with Convert #1 and Universal Monsters: Frankenstein #1. Eye Lie Popeye #1 begins from . The list is rounded out by Marvel Comics with Aliens vs Avengers #1, Deadpool Team-up #1, & Venom War: Zombiotes #1.

It's hard to believe but next weekend is the Labor Day Weekend. We will be closing at 5pm on Fri. Aug. 30th & we will be closed on Sat. Aug. 31st. I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend. We will be back to regular hours on Tues. Sept. 3rd!

We have new #1's to spotlight for this week's New Comic Book Day! Image Comics kicks off a new mini-series, Standstill, by Lee Loughridge & Andrew Robinson. Tom King & Jeff Spokes team-up for a new Jenny Sparks mini-series by DC comics. Wolverine: Revenge by Jonathan Hickman & Greg Capullo comes in both a regular version & Red Band version. Marvel also has a Predator vs. Black Panther mini-series beginning this week. Titan Comics releases Huge Detective #1. Boom Entertainment has a new one-shot Power Rangers Infinity! Mark Millar begins a new Night Club mini-series thru Dark Horse Comics. James Robinson & Scott Kolins begin a new series, also with Dark Horse, titled Patra!

This year's Batman Day is celebrated on Sept. 21st, 2024. We will have 3 guest artists, Michael Bolhuis, Seth Damoose, & Steve Murray attending from 11a-2p. There will be some free comics, while supplies last, featuring The Long Halloween, Joker: The World and Wayne Family Adventures. There will be a limited amount of some exclusive Batman Day items available as well: The Long Halloween Deluxe 2024 Edition, a Batman/Elmer Fudd special edition, and a Batman: One Bad Day Riddler HC with a special dust jacket. Come & join us for a day full of Bat-Fun!

This week's New Comic Book Day is lead by Marvel with five #1's in our spotlight. X-Factor #1 is back & written by Mark Russell. Werewolf by Night gets a new Red Band #1 this week. Iron Fist celebrates his 50th anniversary in a new special one-shot special. Ultraman x Avengers #1 is the start of a new 4-part mini-series. Another 4-part mini-series, Spider-Society, begins this week as well. Jonny Quest is back with a new #1 by Dynamite. Speaking of returns, Defenders of the Earth #1 starts from Mad Cave Studios. DC has a new Elseworlds title: DC vs. Vampires: Matt Kindt writes & draws Gilt Frame, a 3 issue mini, by Dark Horse Comics. Boom Entertainment chimes in with Sir #1, a story on motorcycle jousting.

The next Comic Signal Game Night is being held on Saturday, September 21st featuring two player games! Derek and Michelle will be teaching Patchwork, Onitama, Hanamijoki/Jixia Academy, and 7 Wonders Dual. This free event runs from 6p-8p & these items will 15% during the event! Stop by for a night of fun!

Get ready for our next Comic Signal Comic Book Trivia Night on Sept. 14th starting at 6pm! We are looking for teams of 2-4 people to compete in your knowledge of Super-Hero Trivia. The entry fee is $5 (cash) per person. This entry fee goes directly to the charity, the League Of Enchantment Michigan! Prizes will be awarded. So gather some friends & join us for some fun & support a good cause! Space is limited & seats will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

New Comic Book Day is here! This week we start off with DC comics as they begin a 4-part weekly mini-series Gotham City Sirens #1, starring Catwoman, Harley Quinn, & Poison Ivy. Police Comics #1 facsimile features the 1st appearance of Plastic Man, Firebrand, Phantom Lady, Human Bomb, & Mouthpiece. Image Comics introduces a new series by Kieron Gillen & Caspar Wijngaard titled The Power Fantasy. The Venom War starts this week with first issue (of 5) from Marvel Comics. Uncanny X-Men #1 written by Gail Simone & drawn by David Marquez begins this week. Blood Hunters #1 continue the team's adventure in a 5 part mini-series. The return EC by Oni Press continues with Cruel Universe #1. IDW Publishing releases Monster High: New Scaremester #1 this week. Boom Entertainment starts up 2 new mini-series: Garfield & Red Before Black!

Marvel leads off this New Comic Book Day for the final week of July 2024. A new What If? one-shot featuring What If? Donald Duck became Wolverine. X-Force #1 begins with a new team. A continuation of the Infinity Watch story is in this week's Ms. Marvel Annual. DC comics has a new one-shot of the Super-Pets with Bitedentity Crisis. Titan Comics has a 4 part mini-series Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus #1 beginning this week. Saga returns for another arc with issue #67 from Image Comics. Godzilla Rivals returns in a one-shot where he versus Manda by IDW Publishing. Fans of Boom Entertainment's Pen & Ink specials will enjoy the new BRZRKR: Fallen Empire.

Mad Cave Studios feature the comic book return with Flash Gordon #1. Ms. Marvel, Anole, Wolverine (Laura), Prodigy, & Sophie Cuckoo come together in NYX #1 from Marvel. The battle begins in Spawn Kills Every Spawn #1 from Image Comics. Mark Millar begins a new series by Dark Horse Comics titled Nemesis: Rogues' Gallery. Joe Henderson & Lee Garbett create a title under the DSTLRY_Media banner, Big Burn #1. Ramgod #1 by Massive Publishing relays the story of a former athlete & current beat cop as he balances his life as a cop & a father.

Gerard Way & Shaun Simon co-write the new Paranoid Gardens #1 by Dark Horse Comics. DC has another Elseworlds mini-series starting with Dark Knights of Steel: Allwinter #1. There are a lot of characters returning to comics this week. First up is The PowerPuff Girls #1 by Dynamite. We also have the return of The Rocketeer by IDW Publishing in Breaks Free #1. Image Comics revives Witchblade #1. Marvel has 3 returnees this week in Phoenix #1, Daredevil: Woman without Fear #1, & Namor #1. The last returning feature is from Oni Press starring Biker Mice from Mars #1.

Holy Birthday Gifts! Our incredibly talented artists & friends, John VanderCar (Vandersketch) , Mike Bolhuis (), Andy Budnick (The Art of Andy Budnick), Peter Welmerink (), Krista Schuhman (), Will Jones (), Bill Embill (), Rob O'Neil (), & Yago Williams () got together and drew me a different character from the Batman TV Show. I'm overwhelmed by their thoughtfulness. I really appreciate these special gifts! I will get them displayed soon for all to see!

New to the Comic Signal today is the Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons, 1970-1977. Celebrating 50 years of D&D, this Hardcover edition reveals the beginnings of D&D including rare documents and some previously unseen material.

Yay! It's New Comic Book Day!!!! We have a full line-up this week. First up is IDW Publishing's TMNT 40th Anniversary one-shot. An all-new anthology representing the various era in their history. Marvel is up next with a new Ahsoka #1. A new era of X-Men begins this week. Both Kid Venom #1 and Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #1 start off new series for these characters. Another anniversary is being celebrated this week in Rick & Morty's 10th Anniversary Special by Oni Press. A new series by Zac Kaplan & Dark Horse Comics Kill All Immortals #1 is a blood thirsty fight between immortals. Mad Cave Studios releases another Gatchaman mini-series: Galactor #1 (of 4). DC Comics has a bi-weekly mini-series in Absolute Power: Task Force VII #1 (of 7). Death in the Family: Robin Lives #1 begins a 4 part series showing how the Batman history would've been if Jason lived.
