The mission of the KEA is to improve the working conditions, which are our students' learning conditions. We advocate for safety, equity and high expectations for those who work and learn in KPS. With the strength of our approximately 750 members, we help to ensure Kalamazoo Public Schools has the best quality
education possible for our students!

Yesterday, Kalamazoo Public Schools was happy to welcome a delegation of Palestinian educators to the district to talk about teaching English as a Second Language, assessments, and supports for immigrant families. Our support staff are advocating for a living wage. This is necessary. Without it, we will continue to go without bus drivers, para pros, secretaries, campus safety. This is greatly impacting our students education.

It’s that time of year in MI when teachers are responsible for testing our children to prove their "worth," as well as our own.
On May 3, 2022, the Kalamazoo community will have the opportunity to vote on a bond proposal. If voters approve this bond proposal, there is expected to be NO increase in the tax rate and would provide $197.1 million to fund capital improvements in our schools.
The bond would construct a new El Sol Elementary School in the Vine neighborhood. The new, state-of-the-art building will allow future generations of students to learn in an inspiring environment that prepares students for success beyond the classroom.
On May 3, 2022, the Kalamazoo community will have the opportunity to vote on a bond proposal. If voters approve this bond proposal, there is expected to be NO increase in the tax rate and would provide $197.1 million to fund capital improvements in our schools.
The bond would help improve some athletic facilities including turf fields at Kalamazoo Central and Loy Norrix high schools.
