Big news! Thanks to the incredible support from First Horizon (check out our last post for all the juicy details), we're thrilled to announce our official partnership with Hippos & Fish for Equine-Assisted Therapy this year! ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ’š

Research from the NIH shows that Equine-assisted therapies foster companionship and socialization, improve attachment issues, develop personal space and boundary awareness, increase selfโ€esteem and metaโ€cognition.

We go out of our way to create therapeutic opportunities for our clients the day, and are over the moon to offer such a unique and healing experience.

Thank you again to First Horizon! ๐Ÿ’š

Last but CERTAINLY not least in our Team of the Month recognitions, we have two more lovely BHSA Administrators:

๐Ÿ’™ Marsha Mcclung, Outpatient Assistant: Marsha has been a part of Youth Home and BHSA since 2005 (wow)! She has an interdisciplinary study with an emphasis in Psychology, Studio Art and Art History, and works as a dependable dependable Administrative Assistant for our outpatient team. https://www.bhsarkansas.org/marsha-mcclung

๐Ÿ’™ Alia Moore, Intake Coordinator: Alia is one of your first points of contact at BHSA! She works hard to pair each new client with the therapist best suited to their needs, handle insurance and all new patient appointments. She has a minor in sociology, and holds dual bachelor degrees in Psychology and Professional & Technical Writing from UALR. https://www.bhsarkansas.org/alia-moore

๐Ÿ’™ Our BHSA team is even bigger than this (some just don't have photos or bios quite yet), but you can check them out at: https://www.bhsarkansas.org/our-mission

It takes a tight knit team to provide the best care for our clients, and we're exceptionally grateful to have such knowledgeable and caring staff to pull it off.

Photos from Youth Home, Inc.'s post 07/11/2024

Our BHSA team is made up of Clinical Therapists, Qualified Behavioral Therapists, Administrators, Nurses, Psychiatrists, and Leaders.

Today we're honoring a mix of them ๐Ÿ’™

Sandra Mathes, LCSW: Sandra is here for you, and works hard to meet the needs of the specific circumstances that disrupt your emotional stability. https://www.bhsarkansas.org/sandra-mathes-lcsw

Glendaliz Torrez, Qualified Behavioral Health Provider: Glendaliz is a Social Worker and QBHP who works closely with the Hispanic community, foster children and families, and youth who are navigating life with ADHD! https://www.bhsarkansas.org/newpage96e61eea

Ira Logan LMSW, BSN, RN: Ira is a clinic nurse at BHSA, and has 30 years of nursing experience in Behavioral and Mental Health conditions, mostly with children. Her favorite quote is, "Donโ€™t let the best be the enemy of the good: progress not perfection." https://www.bhsarkansas.org/ira-logan--lmsw

Erick Acuchi, Qualified Behavioral Health Provider: Erick is a QBHP who provides much needed assistance to some of the youth in some of our outpatient families. He helps model therapeutic techniques and provide a safe environment for each child. We don't have a bio for him yet, but he's a valued member of our team!

Thank you BHSA!

Here we have the lovely:

Brenda Scheffler, LCSW: Brenda works with our Outpatient and Youth Home team. She works really well with youth who have experienced early trauma in life (i.e. abuse, neglect, chaos) that impacts their ability to form healthy bonds and attachments. https://www.bhsarkansas.org/brenda-scheffler-lcsw

Marisha Levine, LCSW: Marisha does a really great job helping children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced behavioral and emotional problems that interfere with daily life functioning. https://www.bhsarkansas.org/marisha-levine-lcsw

Melanie McClain, LCSW: Melanie speaks fluent spanish! She works with youth and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, and also has a deep understanding of ADHD, Autism, and Selective Mutism. https://www.bhsarkansas.org/melanie-mcleain-lcsw

We're so thankful for our outpatient team and want to do a great job of helping them feel valued and appreciated! Drop a like to let them know.

She's a licensed therapist with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults suffering from a variety of symptoms such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger, Complicated Trauma and Serious Mental Illness. She also specializes in PCIT Therapy!

๐Ÿ’™ Erin Lytle, LCSW: https://www.bhsarkansas.org/erin-lytle-lcsw
She's a licensed therapist who finds great joy in working with individuals who are struggling with substance abuse, codependency, depression and anxiety. She treats all clients with dignity and respect, and believes they have the capacity to change.

๐Ÿ’™ C. Renรฉ Simpson, LPC: https://www.bhsarkansas.org/rene-simpson-lpc
She's a licensed therapist who loves working with people who deal with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and ADHD. She has a Master's Degree and is also trained to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for clients who would benefit.

Look out for some more employee spotlights throughout the month. It takes a village to make the kind of impact we make at Youth Home & BHSA.

Katherine Downie, our Art Therapist, helped our clients put together some lovely Independence Day bags for the kids at Children's Hospital! This year, we're switching up how we honor our people and are so excited to announce our very first *TEAM SPOTLIGHT* ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ‰

Our Behavioral Health Services of Arkansas team is loaded with empathic experts. This crew works hard to provide outpatient therapy to families in Little Rock (and across Central Arkansas) who want to improve their quality of life, work through stress and trauma, or recover from complex mental illnesses within the family.

They're known as Arkansas' Trusted Therapists for a reason. ๐Ÿ’™

Each of these lovelies (plus some more not shown) play such a vital role in providing care. Expect some highlights throughout this month that will give you a little better insight into who they are and why they're so good at what they do.

Thank you BHSA!

This week was a big one for us at Youth Home with the Juneteenth festivities this year!

Since our administrative offices were closed yesterday, June 19th, in honor of the occasion, we enjoyed our celebration last Friday.

We enjoyed a complimentary lunch courtesy of Youth Home, served up by "The Grind Coffee Bistro" food truck that offered a mouthwatering selection of BBQ Chicken, Pulled Pork, Cajun Chicken Pasta, Mac and Cheese, Candied Yams, and Fried Cabbage.

And we enjoyed a live drum performance by Zinse.

Wishing we had more photos - we may upload some more soon, but it was a great day and week.

Happy late Juneteenth from Youth Home!

Last night we hosted a Cultivating Hope event at the beautiful home of Joe Nichols and Philip Mayeux.

The home was stunning and filled with wonderful art. Sheila Cotton, was in attendance to talk about her own art on display. The food and drinks were so delicious, prepared by Scott Rains with Table 28. And the flowers were donated by Greg Daniels to complete the ambiance.

We are SO thankful to the hosts, volunteers, donors, and attendees for supporting our mission with such vibrancy. What a gorgeous event.
