CAREER OPPORTUNIT

In March of 2011, Community Teamwork moved its headquarters to the historic Bon Marche building located at 155 Merrimack Street in the heart of downtown Lowell. We are humbled that The Healey-Driscoll Administration and state legislators chose Community Teamwork to celebrate the Massachusetts fiscal year 2025 (FY25) state budget making the Commonwealth Cares for Children (C3) program permanent, continuing to be the only state in the nation to continue funding this vital program at the same level the federal government did.

"Along with increasing our ability to fairly compensate teachers and staff, C3 grants and other state supplemental funding have enabled us to meet the increasing needs of our children and families. The soon to be open, Rita O'Brien Dee Center for Behavioral Health and Development, is one of our responses to the great challenge of mental health for our children, staff and families and continued funding through C3 grants is helping us to provide this much needed programming for our community.", said Karen Frederick Community Teamwork CEO. "We are grateful to Governor Maura Healey and her Administration for taking a leadership role in ensuring this critical funding continues."

In addition to Governor Healey, in attendance were of Education Patrick Tutwiler, State Representative Vanna Howard Stater Rep Rodney M. Elliott, City Manager Tom Tipa Golden, Mayor Dan Rourke, City Councilor Vesna Nuon, Rep. Denise Garlick, House Chair of the Joint Committee on Education, Rep. Alice Peisch, Assistant Majority Leader
and Governor’s Councilor Eileen Duff.

Story Time at Parlee Farms

On Tuesday August 27th, Lydia Currie and Chris Cole from our Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) program facilitated a wonderful story time event for families at Parlee Farms in Tyngsboro. Lydia and Chris have an amazing talent for engaging children and families and they have truly become well known and sought after in the communities we serve. They regularly provide their services at the libraries in Billerica, Chelmsford, Dracut, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro and Wilmington but you may also see them at a farmer's market or other events in those communities.

If you would like to see them in action or refer families to fun community engagement opportunities please visit the CFCE calendar of events on our Community Teamwork website https://www.commteam.org/program/coordinated-family-and-community-engagement/

Side note: Chris is also very talented at catching chickens that have wandered off from their home next to our Parker Ave. Early Learning site in Dracut.

Today, September 2nd, is LABOR DAY!

Labor Day is more than just a long weekend; it’s a time to honor the contributions, resilience, and dedication of workers across the country. This day recognizes the power and importance of unions, collective action, and the fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and workers’ rights, all of which are closely tied to our DEIB efforts. As an organization committed to supporting and uplifting our staff and communities, we use this day to reflect on the ongoing work needed to ensure equity and respect for all workers, especially those from marginalized and underrepresented groups. Let’s celebrate the strength and impact of every worker and recommit to advocating for justice, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and beyond.

National Grief Awareness Day

August 30th is National Grief Awareness Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the impact of grief and the importance of support for those who are grieving. Established to foster greater understanding about the complexities of grief, this day emphasizes that grief can arise from many experiences, not just the loss of a loved one. Grief can stem from changes such as job loss, the end of a platonic or romantic relationship, the loss of a community, losing a job, or even significant life transitions. Acknowledging and addressing grief is a vital aspect of our DEIB efforts, as it helps create a supportive and compassionate environment where all forms of grief and lived experiences are recognized and validated. Let’s stand together in support of those who are grieving and foster a culture of empathy and understanding within our community and create spaces at CTI and beyond for people to share their personal stories and experiences of loss in the many forms it can take.

08/30/2024

We will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen Tuesday, September 3rd, during our regular business hours.
