As we gear up for the start of school, we're incredibly proud of our students for serving with honor, respect, and compassion! This summer, Miguel E. '25 and Ava P. '25 from the Spanish Honors Society joined forces to support financially disadvantaged and minority students at Fellsmere Elementary in Fellsmere, Florida. Together, with donations from members of the Society and MCDS community, they prepared 41 bookbags for the students. We look forward to making a bigger impact as we work to establish meaningful, face-to-face relationships with Fellsmere Elementary students. 🌟

Juneteenth, known as Freedom Day, is a significant holiday honoring the emancipation of those who were enslaved in the United States. Its origins trace back to Texas, where on June 19, 1865, General Gordon Granger, a Union general, arrived in Galveston and proclaimed the freedom of all enslaved individuals in the state. Today, we commemorate this pivotal moment in history and reflect on the enduring struggle for equality.

Congrats to our USA Lacrosse Academic All-American, Merritt Lubetsky ‘24. Merritt was chosen as a member of the Academic All-American Team by USA Lacrosse. The winner of this award is one who exhibits exemplary lacrosse skills, good sportsmanship on the field, and represents high standards of academic achievement in the classroom.

Happy May the 4th! Yesterday, our MCDS had a blast participating and learning through STEM! We created 3D print keychains, laser cut coasters, cut-out Baby Grogus, and took a flight on a spacecraft simulation. We even had a special guest storm trooper! May your Spartan Pride Be With You!

Join us as we celebrate a groundbreaking year of PA events, and welcome the future as we swear in our new Presidents. You will also get an artistic glimpse into the interdisciplinary work, a hallmark of an MCDS education, through the spectacular production of Wonderland. Immediately following the meeting we will have an important guest speaker who will help parents of children of every age understand the new dangers of drug use and how to have open and healthy conversations with your children about the subject. Welcome to the “Volume Zoo” where fifth grade students use math and art to create animals with rectangular prisms! In this math lesson, our lower school teachers brought math to life by teaching volume and units. Can you identify all the animals? We spy a giraffe! 🦒

Meet today’s FemSTEM Speaker, Dr. Ainissa Ramirez, an award-winning scientist and passionate science communicator! She’s on a mission to make science exciting for everyone. With a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, she’s authored books, written for top publications, and explained science headlines on major networks. Her accolades include prizes from the National Science Foundation and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. She is also a TEDx speaker on science education and podcaster on “Science Underground”. 🌟🔬 Thanks to the MCDS Science National Honor Society and the Hogoton Foundation for making this event possible. 🔍

Our Seniors impact us. Our Traditions strengthen us. Our Community connects us. Today we held our yearly Senior Brick Ceremony to honor our graduating seniors with an engraved brick showcasing their name and graduation year. As our seniors embark on their next journey, we will remember their impact they have left with us and how they continue to pave the way!

Recognized by the Independent Schools of South Florida (ISSF), an ISSF Star Student exemplifies excellence in academics, community service, citizenship, fine arts, athletics, and more. 🏅

Congratulations to Luca, one of our online middle school students, for an incredible achievement at an 🎾 international tennis tournament in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! 🏆 Facing off against top Brazilian players, Luca emerged victorious, winning the 1st National Children’s Youth Tennis Open without dropping a single set. His remarkable performance and unwavering dedication showcase the diverse talents nurtured and supported here at Miami Country Day School. Way to go, Luca!

We are happy to share the latest news on the Class of 2024’s College Acceptances! 121 Seniors were accepted by 182 colleges & universities. We are proud of our seniors! Go Spartans!

🌿 Our incredible 8th-grade students have been hard at work since January, cultivating a Native plant garden! 🌱 Researching plant species native to Pine Rockland habitats, they’ve planted, tended to, and collected data on their plants for over 8 weeks. Recently, representatives from Fairchild Botanical Gardens visited to interview our students about their knowledge of this endangered habitat. The Fairchild team was thoroughly impressed by our students’ dedication and the health of the species in the garden. Congrats to our middle school students Aven, Sofia, Hailey, Jack, Dani, Tommy, Toni, Luna, Teo, Marcus, Simone, Noah, Andre, Ryan, Gui, Aiden, Micah, Amerie, Luciano, Brody, Lola, Soleil, Alexander, Mayer, Paloma, Jude, Piper for being apart of changing the way we understand and live with nature. 🌳
