A big thank you to the Southington Community YMCA for hosting a tee-rific 2024 YMCA Charity Golf Tournament! We had a hole-in-one experience at the event. We’re already looking forward to next year’s round! ⛳️

The Hospital of Central Connecticut recently recognized Erik Kastner, a colleague who sadly passed away earlier this year with the DAISY award. The award was accepted by his parents and children at a Celebration of Life ceremony.

This award is a recognition program to celebrate and recognize nurses by collecting nominations from patients, families, and co-workers.

Congratulations to Jessica Gildea, RN, HOCC trauma program manager, above left, who was honored with the Viola Larson Award and Kerry Rowan, RN, MMC OR, who received the Lucille Janatka Award.

These prestigious accolades celebrate nurses who exemplify exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering values, continuing the legacies of Viola Larson and Lucille Janatka in healthcare. Their dedication and impact resonate across our community, inspiring excellence in patient care every day.

Hundreds of swimmers from across Hartford HealthCare and the community taking the plunge during a day filled with hope and inspiration in the fight against cancer

The 37th Annual Swim Across the Sound is officially underway!
The event is state-wide for the second year, bringing swimmers from every corner of Connecticut and beyond, raising money for the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute and the hospital of choice.

The Ryan T. Lee Memorial Foundation donated 10 welcome baskets to families of babies born on July 20 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, a date special to them as Ryan's birthday 33 years ago.

Ryan's friend, Tim, and his wife, Stevie, lovingly handpicked every item in the baskets, spreading joy in his memory. 💕

Celebrating Pride Month at The Hospital of Central Connecticut! 🌈 We were excited and proud to recognize and support our colleagues and the LGBTQ+ community.

Nicole Darden, an executive events assistant and member of the Black and African American Colleague Resource Group, hosted a display and handed out "fists of power" badge buddies at The Hospital of Central Connecticut to commemorate Juneteenth. The display coincided with special posters and dishes prepared by the food and nutrition team.

Book donation supports brilliant beginnings! 📚

The Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society of standout women educators, donated 1,033 books to bolster early brain development in infants at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.

These Farmington Valley educators have championed this cause for years, an ongoing commitment that ensures the littlest learners in central Connecticut are well-equipped for a bright future.

The Hospital of Central Connecticut's trauma and public safety teams partnered with the New Britain Police Department and held a gun buyback last weekend. The goal was to help reduce gun violence and promote gun safety.

People who turned in guns received gift cards. In just a few hours, more than 34 guns were turned in.

Over the past nine months, these five dedicated individuals have each completed more than 1,000 volunteer hours across various hospital departments. Their hard work and commitment to learning job skills have been truly inspiring.

This year marks HOCC's first collaboration with CCARC and DDS to host the globally renowned Project SEARCH program. Through this partnership, we've had the privilege of training these amazing interns, preparing them for success in competitive integrated employment.

We're so proud of all you've achieved and can't wait to see what the future holds for each of you! 👏

After 42 years of framing our best moments at Hartford HealthCare, photographer Rusty Kimball retired on June 7. He was honored and celebrated by colleagues at the HOCC Auxiliary Golf Tournament and by friends and family on his final day.

With a keen eye and sharp focus, Rusty developed a career that always put colleagues and patients in the best light. His work was marked by resilience and compassion as a Vietnam veteran, heart surgery survivor and devoted parent.

We hope you have an amazing retirement Rusty!
