Today marks a hundred years since the passing of Clara Spence, our trailblazing founder.

This tree, planted by the Spence Alumnae Association on the northeast side of Central Park near the 96th Street entrance, stands as a living memory of Miss Spence. We will remember her and her "ideals and vision that lighted the way, not only for our School but for our lives."
