&& they can be temporary! Too many people worry about the stigma of an assistive device and lose the potential to be more active and social with a bit of help!

Unfortunately, we see patients (or family members of patients) limit activities due to fear of falling, but the fact is 60% falls happen inside the home.

In homes without stairs, falls are most likely to occur in:
Living rooms 31%
Bedrooms 30%
Kitchens 19%
Bathrooms 10%
Hallways 10%

Limiting activity is not the answer. Rather, working on balance, staying strong, and learning how to fall to avoid injury are much more beneficial for your health and quality of life!

Your body can handle what you prepare it for. More harm can come from inactivity than staying active.

Contrary to popular opinions, growing older does not mean you are more prone to fall. Decreasing your activity level and exercising less are more likely to lead to falls.
