Respected Patrons and Friends of the Hindu Temple

Namaskaram,

I am privileged to continue as the next chair of the board of trustees. I thank the temple nomination committee members and chairs (Srinivas ji and Malathi ji) for their hard work and those who considered me worthy of this position. A special thanks to those who worked tirelessly to ensure a free and fair electoral process. It is an essential element to build trust in our institution and management team.

With the grace of Lord Prasanna Ganapati, the state of our magnificent Temple is strong, and our Temple is debt-free. However, we have more to do. The immediate concern is related to the infrastructure and well-being of the temple. We must replace the temple and social hall roof.

Most importantly, we must start preparing for our next Maha Kumbhabhishekam in 2027. The whole temple must go through repair inside and out. The last time we had it was in 2015. It is typically performed every 12 years and is believed to bring blessings and prosperity to the temple and its community. We will start planning for the event, which will be a major one, beginning this calendar year. We look forward to your generous support.

We will continue the Vision 2030 developed during past management. However, we should focus on sustainability and creative solutions in our day-to-day operations and long-term projects. We will pursue a respectful and collaborative working environment for future development and progress. I assure you that BOT will do its best to facilitate the smooth functioning of the Executive Committee under the leadership of Sundar ji.

I must emphasize that anything we do for our Temple is a SEVA, and it has been my honor to serve at this Temple for the past several years in different capacities. Our Temple runs because of the strong devotion and selfless efforts of our volunteers, patrons, and community leaders. We greatly appreciate your outstanding services. However, we always need more.

On behalf of the incoming management, we will try our best to fulfill our Temple's mission and objectives. Please get in touch with Sundar Ji or me if you have any suggestions or feedback.

May Lord Prasanna Ganapati bless us and our Temple.

Rakesh K. Singh
Chairperson, Board of Trustees

Rebuild Omaha Community

Dear Members of our Resilient Community,

Omaha was struck by a devastating force of nature that left a trail of destruction in its wake. Tornadoes tore through our beloved city’s various subdivisions, leaving many homes shattered and lives upended. Among those profoundly affected are our friends from Omaha including members of our Indian community.

We stand at a pivotal moment, where the true measure of our strength and unity was tested. In the face of adversity, several of us came together to assist these families in cleaning up the debris and helping them get a semblance of normalcy. However, it is our duty to extend a helping hand, to offer solace and support to those who have lost almost everything.

The Hindu Temple Omaha, in partnership with the India Association of Nebraska (including regional organizations like Gujarati Samaj, Bengal Association, Kerala Samiti, Marathi Mandal, Oriya Group, Sirigandha Kannada Sangha, Tamil Sangam, Telugu Samiti and other religious organizations) has initiated a fundraising drive to support the rebuilding and resettlement efforts. Your contributions, no matter how big or small, will make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected.

Below isTornado Relief Donation link.. For any donation above $500, we appreciate if you could write a check in the name of EITHER of these two organizations and drop the same in the hundi box in the temple. In the memo please mention “Tornado Relief“ All checks in favor of IAN will duly be given to that organization.

Together, we can turn the tide of despair into a wave of hope. Together, we can rebuild the Omaha community stronger than ever before. Let us stand united in this hour of need, for it is in our unity that our strength lies.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Sundar Chokkara, President, Hindu Temple Omaha
