Home Prices Have Hit a New High—Is the Housing Market About To Crash? With home prices soaring, it's no wonder that Google searches for when the housing market will crash have spiked. Is a real estate bubble about to pop?

HIGH-END HOMES: There is no doubt the residential real estate market is still red hot in the Triangle. And that piqued the interest of TBJ Plus, so we decided to do a little research on the most expensive homes sold in the area in the past 12 months (February 2020 through February 2021).

Turns out, the priciest home sale was in Rougemont, a community north of Durham. A home at 7505 New Sharon Church Road fetched? $7 million. The sale for the nearly 16,000-square-foot, seven-bedroom home closed on Oct. 30. It also had 250 acres. It came on the market at $6.9 Million with 120 acres and was bumped to $8995000 with the additional 130 Acres that accompanied the parcel. It was on the market for 303 on the second relist. Originally That's $439.23 s/f ! It was on the market for 898 days prior.

A few interesting facts about some of the homes sold in 2020:

No. of homes sold in the $1.5 million to $2 million range: 87
No. of homes sold in the $2 million to $2.5 million range: 21
No. of homes sold for $2.5 million-plus: 14
