Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn our brave Marines and Corpsman who paid the ultimate price on behalf of our Nation. Our thoughts are with their comrades who continue this dangerous mission and with their families who sacrificed so much and who will carry this sacrifice for the rest of their lives.

Statement from the Commandant of the Marine Corps, General David H. Berger:
"It is with extremely heavy hearts that we learned several Marines and other service members were killed and wounded in the Kabul attacks today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families as they are notified of this devastating loss.
These fallen heroes answered the call to go into harm’s way to do the honorable work of helping others. We are proud of their service and deeply saddened by their loss. As we mourn, we also keep those who are still over there protecting Americans and our Afghan partners at the forefront of our thoughts. Our Marines will continue the mission, carrying on our Corps’ legacy of always standing ready to meet the challenges of every extraordinary task our Nation requires of her Marines.
I am continually humbled by the courage and warrior spirit exhibited every day by Marines across the globe. The sacrifices Marines make on behalf of freedom must never go unnoticed or unappreciated. John P. McNeil is the founder of McNeil Law Firm, PLLC. A graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law in 2001, Mr. McNeil has considerable experience in litigation, non-litigation and mediation surrounding all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, alimony, post-separation support, equitable distribution, alienation of affection, domestic violence, property distribution, and other complex legal matters.
John is a Certified Mediator for Family Financial Settlements and accepts party selected designations as mediator as well as accepting court-appointed designations in certain counties in North Carolina.
Melissa Stuckey is the newest member of the McNeil Law Firm. In 2006, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree double major in German and Philosophy from the University of Memphis. After graduation, Ms. Stuckey studied Arabic at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. In 2013, Ms. Stuckey graduated from the University of Memphis School of Law with a concentration in Family Law.
Four years ago, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina with her family from Memphis, Tennessee and she passed the North Carolina bar in 2016. Since becoming licensed, she has experience in litigation and non-litigation surrounding all aspects of criminal law, traffic law, and family law. Ms. Stuckey is admitted to practice before the State Courts of North Carolina, a Member of the North Carolina State Bar and the Tenth Judicial District Bar.
