JFS is a full-service adoption agency in Richmond, Virginia, and we’re here to help you every step of the way. Your social worker will be with you throughout the entire adoption process, from the home study to your child’s homecoming and beyond.

JFS offers adoption services to all prospective parents, regardless of age, gender, disability, religion, political belief, and family status. We firmly believe great parents come from all walks of life, and all children deserve a permanent, loving home.

JFS provides home studies to individuals and families of all backgrounds. An individual homestudy offers sensitive and careful exploration of the issues involved in parenting by adoption. Virginia law requires that all adoptive families complete a homestudy before adopting. An individual homestudy takes about six to twelve weeks to complete. Expedited homestudy services are available.
