Last Thursday, we had an amazing session with housing attorney Patrick from Legal Aid of Sonoma County and Beatrice from North Bay Organizing Project! They came to share essential information about tenant rights and how to protect yourself. They reminded us how crucial it is to take the following steps to ensure your rights are always protected:

🏠Always communicate with your landlord in writing.
🏠Obtain a copy of your lease agreement.
🏠Take photos when you move into a unit and when you move out.
🏠Make sure to get receipts when you pay rent or use a traceable payment method.

It provides an avenue for undocumented youth to obtain legal status when they are subject to juvenile court jurisdiction, cannot be reunified with one or both parents due to abuse, neglect, abandonment, or similar basis under state law, and it is not in their best interest to return to their home country.
