Congratulations Michele, very well deserved!

Congratulations to Michele Brewer, RN, who was recognized with this year’s Rural Health Ambassador Award. Michele has been a nurse at TRHC for more than 26 years and is currently the lead nurse in the Kraemer Infusion Center.

The Rural Health Ambassador Award is presented annually to a health care worker whose dedication to their organization and their community is exemplary. For those who have worked alongside Michele or received care from her, there is no question that she is a worthy recipient.

“Michele goes above and beyond providing exemplary care for the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Vice President of Professional Services DeAnna Beve Caspers in her nomination. “She gets to know her patients on a personal level and truly represents the best of rural health care in that respect,” she continued.

Michele was nominated for the award by multiple co-workers. In addition to the outstanding care she provides for patients, Michele’s nominators spoke to her involvement with Greater Richland Area Cancer Elimination (GRACE), an organization Michele speaks of with reverence and gratitude.

Thank you, Michele, for your example of compassion and excellence.

Congratulations Karyn Tiffany!

Our very own Karyn Tiffany, Infusion and Oncology Registered Nurse Supervisor, has secured a rural health ambassador award!

Karyn received this award for her efforts in getting staff out in the community and making a difference. She is a key member of Tamarack Health’s Community Team – an employee-led, staff-driven team of dedicated individuals who seek to connect with the community and expand the organization's footprint in the region. Karyn is the medical lead for the American Birkebeiner Ski Race Finish Line Medical Station, organizing medical supplies and equipment, helping coordinate the volunteer pool, as well as serving as the lead registered nurse for the team, and volunteering many hours during the event. Other community events Karyn is actively involved in include the Birkie Bike Fest, the Musky Fest Run/Walk, the Sawyer County National Night Out, the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, and Tamarack Health's Kids' Day.

She has also successfully led the Infusion/Oncology Team to earn Press Ganey's Guardian of Excellence Award two years in a row. This award recognizes leaders in patient experience by recognizing the top 5% of organizations nationwide. Congrats, Karyn!

Congratulations Lance Ritola!

Congratulations to Assistant Nursing Director, Lance Ritola, who received the Rural Health Ambassador Award from the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative. This award recognizes employees who have gone above the call of duty in their work and who made significant contributions to rural health care.

Lance received the award for his dedication to expanding local ambulance service in this region. For some time, the town of Marengo had no 911 coverage. Lance worked diligently to establish an ambulance service in Marengo, even actively providing patient care in responding to calls. Thanks to his significant recruitment and retention efforts for expanding this service in Marengo, Ashland was able to achieve full staffing, which ultimately led to Ashland’s ambulance service taking over coverage in this area, ensuring its residents that they can be confident that when they need 911 service, it will be there.

Lance is also a volunteer firefighter and is currently the Fire Chief for his township. He has demonstrated strong leadership in ensuring this region has adequate emergency coverage, and Tamarack Health thanks him for his dedication to these efforts.

This month, I challenge each of you to adopt a recess mindset. What will you do this month to bring play/fun back to life in your life? I would love to hear your plans.

June is vacation month for me. It gives me time to just be, to hike, skip rocks on the water and splash around in the lake. We have rented a cabin on a lake. We plan to hike to some waterfalls, which is one of my favorite things. I love the sound of water falling and feeling the spray on my face.
