As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, we will be taking time as an organization to reflect on our role as leaders in behavioral health planning and coordination and reaffirm our commitment to destigmatizing mental health, increasing access to services, and embodying our mission statement.

In February 2024, Behavioral Health Network of Greater St. Louis, in collaboration with community partners, including SSM Health, Mercy Hospital and Camden Coalition, hosted a regional sustainability retreat informed by the work of Building Engagement to Address Complex Needs (BEACN). The event was held at the May Center (SSM DePaul Hospital). Discussions and activity was centered around: Exploring innovative strategies for long term funding in addressing complex care; Integration of healthcare and social services; and Collaboration to develop a map for sustained impact.

BHN is a Referral Coordinator to work with our Bridges to Care & Recovery team. If you are passionate about serving the faith-based community in St. Louis and expanding access to mental health services, we want to hear from you!

Happy 314 Day! We are so proud to be located in St. Louis City and to serve the Greater St. Louis community. As a local organization, we believe it is important to contribute to our community by focusing on collaboration and connection. 314 Day is a great opportunity for us to put our values into practice by uplifting, celebrating, and supporting our city and those that do great work within it.

BHN is in bloom! Here at BHN we take time on the first Wednesday of each month to spend an hour together in a communal activity. For March, we chose “gardening” as our theme. Each employee answered some fun facts/STL themed questions on a flower to hang in the office. This activity allows us to get to know one another while we promote pride in our city and state. We also “guerilla gardened,” where we started seeds for fruits, vegetables, and flowers for employees to take home. These activities promote community and collaboration among staff members. They boost morale and are pure fun!

BHN takes a collaborative approach to behavioral health. One way we do this is through our programs such as EPICC. EPICC not only works to end the opioid epidemic but embodies BHN’s mission to improve lives through shared responsibility, transparency, and racial equity. As a woman-led organization, we would like to take some time to celebrate women’s history month. The theme for 2024’s women’s history month is “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.” To honor this theme, we have chosen to recognize three women who championed DEI in the mental health space: Mamie Clark, Nellie Bly, and Marie Nyswander. Please refer to the last slide for resources.

BHN is hiring for a vital position: Youth & Young Adult Coordinator. This position will work to enhance services and systems amongst behavioral health agencies in the Greater St. Louis region by soliciting youth and young adult perspectives to make the transition from youth to adult as stress-free and holistic as possible.
