Safety and rescue go hand in hand. Students at NW-REI learn rescue training with equipment like the Spec-Pak, as well as being put in other simulated situations, to help them prepare for a career as a wind technician!

Meet James Simon, who has spent 3 years in the industry, and 4 years as an engineer in the military, specializing in explosives and bridge building. "For the dynamics of it all, my blend of both classroom and hands-on training allows my students to acquire a solid theoretical foundation in the classroom and then apply that knowledge in practical, real-world scenarios for their labs."

Welcome March 2024 Wind Class! These students will start their journey to becoming wind turbine technicians by learning the ins and outs of the wind and telecom industry before moving on to phase 2: hydraulics! 😎

At Northwest Renewable Energy Institute, our program is divided into 6 phases:
Intro to Wind and Telecom, Hydraulics, Electrical, Electronics/Machine Controllers, Mechanical, Rigging, Torque & Tensioning.
Graduates of this program will be fully prepared for jobs in the wind power industry and qualified for entry-level positions as wind turbine and telecom technicians. 🎓

Meet Tom Bauras, who has been an instructor at NWREI for 8 years! Tom also spent 8 years in the Marnie Corps. "One of my most memorable moments as an instructor was when a student told me that they will be forever grateful for how I was able to play a role in turning their life around."- Tom.
