the largest meteor captured during the Geminids meteor shower event. Glad we were able to capture it while it was over two of our observatories 💫
Geminids meteor season is back !!
register now and spend a night under the sky witnessing the biggest meteor shower of the year. fortunetly this year we dont have the moon to disturb us so guess what? the observatory will host the event for 4 nights instead of 2 !!
The shower stars at 10 and peaks around 2am
guests are welcomed to stay all night if they wish but please insure you have warm clothings as it gets cold during the night 🙌🏽
Helix Nebula taken from our observatory using a 10 inch telescope. this photo has more than 40 hours of data 😱😱
known as Messier 33 (M33) its located in the triangle-shaped constellation Triangulum, earning it the nickname the Triangulum galaxy. About half the size of our Milky Way galaxy, M33 is the third-largest member of our Local Group of galaxies following the Andromeda galaxy (M31) and the Milky Way. It resolves 25 million individual stars in a 14,000-light-year-wide region spanning the center of the galaxy.
Photo taken from our observatory with only 10 hours of integration time:
Luminance @ 6 hours
Red @ 2 hours
Green @ 2 hours
Blue @ 2 hours
what are you waiting for? join us and explore the wonders of the universe !!

continuing on the last post, this is what the final image looks like when we combine all 3 narrowband filters (hydrogen, oxygen and sulfer)
our total imaging integration for this target was 32.5 hours with the following details and processed in the hubble palette where you assign Sii to the Red channel, Ha to the green channel and Oiii to the Blue channel:
Hydrogen Alpha @ 12.5 hours
Oxygen iii @ 10 hours
Sulfer ii @ 10 hours
Interested in seeing such nebulae? join us at our observatory and explore the wonders of the universe.
The
Taken from our observatory using a small refractor telescope in the Hydrogen spectrum. This photo consists of a total 12.5 hours taken across 3 nights.
It is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It forms a famous pair known as the Heart and Soul with the neighbouring Heart Nebula (IC 1805). The Soul Nebula is sometimes also known as the Embryo Nebula or IC 1848, which is a designation used for the open star cluster embedded within the nebula.

EXOPLANET DISCOVERY 🌍🔭
Most known exoplanets have been discovered using the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes between a star and its observer.
Transits reveal an exoplanet not because we directly see it from many light-years away, but because the planet passing in front of its star ever so slightly dims its light. This dimming can be seen in light curves – graphs showing light received over a period of time. When the exoplanet passes in front of the star, the light curve will show a dip in brightness.
you can start discovering exoplanets too if you have a telescope and a camera ✌🏽📷
The Perseid meteor shower is back and we want you to be part of it.
Our observatory will host 2 nights of witnessing one of the best meteor showers of the year and unlike last years full moon, this year will almost be a moonless night and ideal to see 30-50 meteors per hour
more details can be found via the link in our bio ✌🏽
Our favorite time of the year, the Geminids Meteor Shower is approaching 💫☄️🌟
We are happy to open our observatory on 2 full nights, the 13th and 14th of December and give you the opportunity to enjoy witnessing the greatest meteor shower of the year from a very safe, comfortable and friendly venue for only 35dhs per night for every adult

Did you ever wonder what the night sky looked like? Or what’s out
there in space beyond the stars?
Join us on the 30th of September for an observation night where we
explore the wonderful night sky and the objects (Galaxies, Nebulae and
supernova remittance) that can be hard to see with the naked eye with
the help of our telescopes.
This event will give you a different level of experience away from the
city artificial lights where it is rare and almost impossible to see
the night sky in its entirety. Not only that but it is a family
friendly event with no barriers to entry, anyone who is interested in
Astronomy and Space can join.
Given the magnitude of the targets, no visual telescopes will be used
but a projected screen will reflect what we see using our
Astrophotography camera and equipment’s. All you need to do is sit
down, relax and enjoy the view.
Please note that this event has a limited seat policy, link to the location of the observatory,
reservation and payment can be found in the bio. ** Kids under the age
of 12 get a free entry **
Some data taken on the M1 satellite before the arch enemy to astronomy (clouds) showed up and we had to call it a night.
MSAT, short for Mobile Satellite, is a satellite-based mobile telephony service developed by the National Research Council of Canada. Supported by a number of companies in the US and Canada, MSAT hosts a number of services, including the broadcast of CDGPSsignals. The MSAT satellites were built by Hughes (now owned by Boeing) with a 3 kilowatt solar array power capacity and sufficient fuel for a design life of twelve years.
The Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as Messier 51 is an interacting grand-designspiral galaxy with a Seyfert 2 active galactic nucleus. It lies in the constellation Canes Venatici, and was the first galaxy to be classified as a spiral galaxy. Its distance is 31 million light-years away from Earth.
The galaxy and its companion, NGC 5195, are easily observed by amateur astronomers, and the two galaxies may be seen with binoculars under clear dark skies.
Andromeda Galaxy (messier 31) is a barred spiral galaxy approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth and the nearest large galaxy to our Milky Way galaxy. The galaxy's name stems from the area of Earth's sky in which it appears, the constellation of Andromeda, which itself is named after the princess who was the wife of Perseus in Greek mythology.
The Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies are expected to collide in around 4–5 billion years. It has a magnitued of 3.4 making it a bright target to see with the naked eye under extreme dark skies and a moonless clear night.
In 2017, the UAE launched ‘Energy Strategy 2050’, which is considered the first unified energy strategy in the country that is based on supply and demand. The strategy aims to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix from 25 per cent to 50 per cent by 2050 and reduce carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent, thus saving AED 700 billion by 2050. It also seeks to increase consumption efficiency of individuals and corporates by 40 per cent.
September is known to be a transitional month where we say goodbye to the summer targets and welcome the autumn/fall targets.
below is our top picked targets for amateurs to image and observe, three out of the four targets can be seen by naked eye under extreme dark moonless skies (EAO is one of them 😉) while the heart nebula would require a telescope and a camera
The Perseids meteor shower is one of the most popular meteor showers of the year and Emirates Astronomical Observatory would like to invite you to participate with us while we stargaze into the night sky
Details about the event can be found via the link in our bio
Please note there is a fee of 35dhs per adult for this event, kids under the age of 13 get a free pass
