The Overlord Academy
The first-ever adventure cadets in the UAE. A fun military-style academy led by ex-British soldiers
Did you know at The Overlord Academy one of the life skills we teach is self defence which is included in the training curriculum. Ensuring our cadets know how to protect themselves has got to be a non-negotiable for us. We don’t learn to strike but instead learn how to defend.
Staff Kelsey is super excited to welcome back the cadets very soon. In the roar of your spirit, find the courage to face any challenge. Like the Haka, let your battle cry ignite the warrior within. 💪💪
The countdown is on! Excited to kick off another thrilling season with our cadets at The Overlord Academy! Get ready for new adventures, skills, and unforgettable experiences that will challenge and inspire. Let’s make this season the best one yet!
At our cadet club, we emphasize the importance of discipline, self-reliance, and taking pride in our appearance. As Major General Harold W. Chase once said, “Take pride in your appearance. It shows that you are responsible and pay attention to detail.”
Ironing and sewing your own clothes might seem like small tasks, but they build self-sufficiency and discipline, key qualities for any successful cadet. Each crisp crease in your uniform represents your commitment to excellence and readiness to meet any challenge.
Stay sharp, cadets!
Delighted to have had our founder speak at DESC School’s Wellbeing Week for Year 9 &10, shedding light on the significance of character and human skills in his talk titled ‘Mastering the Mind.’ Through personal anecdotes from his journey in the British Army, he emphasized the invaluable role these qualities play in overcoming obstacles. Grateful for the opportunity to inspire others and foster discussions on personal growth and hats off to DESC for focusing on this in their curriculum.
🎄 Wishing all our incredible cadets and their families a Merry Christmas filled with joy, warmth, and cherished moments! Your dedication and spirit make our cadet club a family, and we’re grateful for each one of you. May this festive season bring you love, laughter, and the magic of the holidays. Here’s to a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic year ahead! 🎅🤍

Learning important life skills to develop the leaders of tomorrow. Trust, Teamwork, Confidence, Health, Survival and First Aid are top of our agenda.
Year 2’s smashed their activity day challenges and had so much fun whilst doing so 🥳.
It was an absolute honour to bring our UAE Cadets to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. We even got to meet a UAE Officer Cadet who is has finished his first term. Mabrouk 🇦🇪🇬🇧🇦🇪👏
Patrollers on their Commando Sea Survival Camp. Using problem solving skills, ingenuity, teamwork and collaboration to rescue a casualty. No man left behind! 💪🌊
Friendships that last a lifetime. Experiencing challenging times together always creates a stronger bond with your peers. This photo was Ranger 11’s Gangsta pose 🤣
Did you know that kindness helps young people develop empathy!
We cant wait to start back up again for the final part of Term 2. There is so much to look forward to over the next few weeks.
What makes a well rounded, confident, resilient future leader and team player? Those that can thrive in the outdoors. Those that know what it feels like to be a little uncomfortable. Those who push their boundaries, test themselves and adapt to their surroundings outside of the “bubble” and the creature comforts of modern life. The future is about being “Human” again. And combined with the digital transformation we are in, it’s going to set them apart. We shouldn’t be less “digital” but we also shouldn’t be less “human” either. Having the combination of the two will produce the most successful leaders of tomorrow. What are your thoughts? Comment below…
As the evening cools down we are now conducting some navigation refresher training before we head out for our night nav.

Building self esteem in our academy is created by both encouragement and support from instructors, as well as self belief and accomplishment from the Cadets. One area we want to concentrate more on in 2023 is building an unstoppable, confident and determined group of young people, with bucket loads of self esteem! Let’s go….you got this!!!
Hands up who is looking forward to getting back in to their Troops again? ✋We’re back from our festive holidays and can’t wait to start Term 2 with some more action packed adventure and learning new skills. Our club recommences on the week starting 9th January.
Creating real life scenarios with expert instructors makes our training even more realistic.
Do your children tidy their rooms? 😉Even on camp we have tent inspections to make sure our kit is looked after and our tents are tidy. If we look after our kit then our kit will look after us!
Rangers at the end of their Term 1 camp. Learning search and rescue skills can be tiring and uncomfortable at times, but it’s also lots of fun. What we do today makes us stronger tomorrow!
Marching together with the UAE flag leading the way! Happy UAE national Day.
On the 51st celebration of the UAE national day we have been flying the flag with honor in our club. We are so privileged to be living in a country that looks after us so well and we are blown away by the pride that this country displays of its culture and its people. Our club is a mixture of nations all coming together and sharing the values and respect that this country instill in its community of citizens. #
3 hands connected! This picture sums it all up. The bond our Troops create with each other shows the importance of teamwork in everything we do.

‘Take a knee.’ Before you jump in and rush a decision it’s always important to pause and asses the situation first. In the military before coming under attack all commanders need to pause, reflect and plan. This is known as the ‘condor’ moment. We take a knee and observe our surroundings. A moment of clarity which enables us to take the best course of action.

As October is now well underway we can’t help but get excited about the first expedition we have coming up. With the weather now starting to change it can only mean one thing…time to tackle the dunes or climb those mountains. TAKE THE LEAD
Queen Elizabeth II. Steadfast and wise. The longest reigning monarch in British history. A lifetime of service. Bound by duty and faith. A true example of servant leadership, humility, courage and resilience. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this very sad time.
This will be our last post for a while. We know how important it is to occasionally disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature. For that reason none of the team will be allowed to post on here or any other social media platform for at least 2 weeks! Instead we are going to put every spare moment we have into creating our own little adventures. Don’t worry we will be back soon. Enjoy your break!
