For our 10th episode, I had a brilliant conversation with Maryam Moravvej, a Sourdough consultant and artisan baker, Empowering families to eat real bread and teaches group & private workshops in her home in Dubai.
Maryams Knowledge of baking is second to none. The past 3 years has seen a surge in home baking, especially in Sourdough. In this episode, we discuss the origins of Sourdough, her classes, top tips, how she gets creative with her baking as well as how you can integrate sourdough baking into you busy everyday lives so you can eat real bread that is good for you.

For our 9th episode, I had the pleasure of chatting to Zeina Hamad, a wife, mum of 2 boys and now an author, who has created a book series and got it published. With no experience in the publishing world, she worked with book publishers, illustrators and printers and managed to get her book series to market.
Her background is in teaching, but loves to write and create stories for kids. She talks about the challenges she has faced, tips to help others and what she has planned for the book series in the future.
Zeina gives a very honest and humble insight into her journey and hopes she can inspire other mums to do the same and make an idea come to life.

Phil talks about his design process, the challenges facing music artists to get their material out there, how the landscape is changing and what it takes to get into the music design industry. Our 6th episode is on the Arabic language. I was lucky enough to grab some time with Ola from agency Alef Yaa to talk about a subject that is very close to my heart. Ola, originally from Syria has been in the region for many years, starting out as a freelance captions writer for TV, and then went on to found her agency, Alef Yaa, who work for global and local brands creating arabic content.

Ola talks about common Arabic dialects, arabisation and translation, creating modern Arabic for all audiences and her passion for the Arabic language, which started when she was a little girl reading mainstream magazines from the UK. 

I got to find out about visco girls, arabeezee and white arabic, yeah I didnt know what all those were either. :)

Ola brings a wealth of knowledge to this podcast theme and I walked away from it with even more questions…perhaps a part 2 coming soon.

Our work for lynx awards was created purely by code. This generated thousands of infinite icons, each one with its own colour way, shape and eyes. Be different and stand out.

Our smart home commerce website for du is still going strong. We like to make things that last.

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman (SKMCA) is a key healthcare provider for the citizens of Ajman and Masfoot under the office of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

With SKMCA being steered by the private Swedish company, GHP Specialty Care, we wanted the look and feel of the annual to be inclusive of Scandinavian design elements, giving a subtle nod to SKMCA’s Swedish collaboration.

We kept the original logotype and partnered it with vibrant colours and shapes that reflects the food and it’s creativity.

Enso’s food fusion inspired our typographic designs of Japanese and English fonts.

Art Jameel is a not-for-profit organisation that supports artists and creative communities.

Maek worked closely with the Art Jameel team to help craft a humble website, allowing them to communicate with the global art community.

This is the first stage of the site, with updates happening later in the year. The new centre in Dubai is aimed to finish in 2018, where the site will be able to support the venue fully with information on exhibitions, events and in house residences.

STACK is an event platform that allows people to engage with LEGO® experiences.

STACK is a 4-day event for LEGO® fans. This event is at the heart of the brand’s year-round community engagement, and will feature creative zones, games, shops, and food and beverages.

We created a simple identity in the classic LEGO® colours of red and yellow, inspired by the LEGO® brick to form an S shape. We followed this up with a library of marketing material – this included stationery, internal communications and a website to sell tickets for the forthcoming event.

We’ll be continuing to build the STACK brand over the next few months, as well as designing event graphics for the launch. Keep up to date on their website.

Snapp came to us with an outdated identity, an app that required a redesign and redevelopment and with no marketing collateral. While most loyalty app competitors tend to mimic printed loyalty cards, we needed to find a new, more scalable approach to the interface and the brand. It needed to be flexible enough to work for small and large vendors alike, as well as for the consumers who use it daily.

Rather than replicate existing convention, we took a different approach. The icon we designed for the branding is unique, colourful and fresh. The app logo can also be broken up and used on other marketing collateral. The app’s interface design features a circular graphic mechanic for the points – a system scalable with any vendor. We felt collecting points was much more fun and interesting for the user, too.

The Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) is a non-profit government organization which supports entrepreneurs, building businesses that serve as engines for socio-economic development. Sheraa cultivates change-makers out of young talent, nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit that celebrates infinite possibility, and building a thriving entrepreneurship ecosystem essentially from scratch.

We worked closely with the clients team to create a new digital home for the business.

The business had out grown the site and Sheraa felt that they needed a website they can grow with and be proud to showcase.

The site is in 2 languages and is fully responsive. We look forward to a long term relationship with Sheraa, helping them and their start-ups.

Maek helped create a digital platform that best showcased it's packages and products.
