In line with the DHA guidance, all new or renewed Watania Enhanced Medical Takaful policies now cover the vaccine against shingles effective from 1 July 2024.

Shingles is a viral disease that may cause a painful rash with blisters followed by chronic pain and other complications, particularly for older individuals or those with a compromised or weak immune system.

The Shingrix vaccine can prevent this disease and help reduce the risk of spreading it. It can also reduce the symptoms amongst individuals aged 50 years or older, and immunocompromised patients who are 18 years or older.

Please speak to a medical professional to check if you need to get the vaccine.

Our deepest thanks to the Red Crescent volunteers who helped organize and look after the donors throughout the day.

This initiative, aimed at supporting blood banks across the UAE, is a shining example of our program in action.
