🚚✨ From Burundi to South Africa: Solving Urgent Government Cargo Challenges!
Problem: With an urgent need to transport government cargo from Burundi to South Africa before the start of the South African winter, and with ocean transit times exceeding 45 days, time was of the essence.
Solution: Enter the road trip! We mobilized a truck from Mombasa, Kenya, to embark on an epic journey. It arrived in Bujumbura on Day 4, loaded up, and made its way through Tanzania and Zambia, facing local bureaucracy at the border. Despite challenges, the cargo reached Johannesburg in just 18 days!
A special shoutout to our driver, Boniface, who courageously embarked on this 5,000km journey at just one day's notice. His dedication and expertise ensured the safe and timely delivery of the cargo to the Rainbow Nation.
Here are some snapshots capturing the highlights of his remarkable journey. 📸

⛑️ Update from Gaza:
The US-built floating pier is gearing up to resume its vital mission of delivering much-needed aid into Gaza. Airdrops and truck movements have intensified across borders, including Kerem Shalom, Zikim, and Ashdod, thanks to the recent agreement between President Biden and President Sisi. Move One continues to move 100’ of trucks daily and thanks to all those on the ground and aroud the worlds making it work ! Stay tuned.

"A picture is worth a thousand words."

I used to think the drivers on "Ice Road Truckers" worked in some pretty extreme conditions. Here is an example of what our 150+ truckers in Gaza experience on a daily basis. Compounded with a lack of fuel, no spare parts, the constant threat from mobs, and attacks from the air, these guys are made of steel.⛑️

✈️🐟Flying Fish? 🇳🇴🇨🇩
Sounds simple until you try to fly Norway’s favorite fish into Kinshasa, DRC, for National Day celebrations. In addition to the usual challenges of transporting perishable foods, getting fresh fish safely to Kinshasa presents its own unique hurdles.
With a very tight timeline, our teams faced the added difficulties of a lack of direct flights between the two countries, navigating the complex and often opaque customs process in the DRC, and ensuring the fish remained at precise temperatures throughout the journey.
Thanks to our years of experience delivering perishable foods to some of the most challenging locations—such as Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, Niger, and Uzbekistan—Move One was the natural choice for the Norwegians to contact. Our teams on the ground in Kinshasa coordinated seamlessly with our logistics teams worldwide to ensure everything went smoothly.

🇺🇸 First trucks and aid are moving via the newly built floating pier 🚢+🚚!
Move One’s team of over 150 Gaza-based staff is working tirelessly to support US Government efforts in distributing food and medical aid off the coast of Gaza. Built at a cost of $320 million and with components transported over 6,000 miles, 1,000 US troops completed this project in record time. While this is a temporary measure, its opening is crucial with the Egypt/Gaza border at Rafah closed and other border crossings experiencing delays. Our daily target is to move 500 tonnes of supplies. Move One will manage most of the inland distribution on behalf of our aid partners, ensuring vital supplies reach those most in need. ⛑️

🇩🇯 Djibouti is getting crowded 🇨🇳🇺🇸🇯🇵🇫🇷🇬🇧🇮🇹🇪🇸🇹🇷

With over 30% of the world's trade transiting through its narrow waterways, Djibouti has become one of the most crowded hosts of foreign military bases. Despite a population of less than 1 million, it currently hosts 8 to 11 foreign bases (depending on who you ask and how a base is defined), including both U.S. and Chinese bases that are only 10 km apart, and Japan’s sole international base. These bases are crucial for maintaining security in the region given the challenges posed by the turmoil in Yemen, Sudan, and Somalia, the rise in piracy in the western Indian Ocean and the Horn of Africa, and the influence of terrorist groups like al-Shabaab.
Move One has been operating in Djibouti and 22 other countries in Africa for a decade, providing complex logistical support, as well as moving and relocation services for the diplomatic and business community.

🇵🇸Karen Shalom border reopens to Gaza 🟢
*** officially open but current feedback is limited truck crossing***

Message from COGAT

Following the closure of Kerem Shalom crossing due to rocket fire by Hamas, the Kerem Shalom Crossing is now open for the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Aid trucks are already arriving at the crossing. After a thorough security inspection, they will be transferred to the Gazan side.

In parallel to the re-opening of the Kerem Shalom Crossing, the Erez Crossing is continuing to operate to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza following security checks in Israel, as it did while the Kerem Shalom Crossing was closed due to attacks by the Hamas.

🇵🇸 Gaza Update - Borders with Egypt Closed ⛔️
Due to the expansion of Israeli operations in Rafah, Move One has repositioned its staff to Deir al-Balah. All staff and contractors have been reported safe, and aid convoys have been redirected to Erez. We will keep our partners informed, ensure the safety of all goods and equipment, and work to minimize any service disruptions.

🌍 Our Goal is Zero: Reducing Plastics in Our Moving Operations 🌿

At Move One, we're committed to a healthier planet and a healthier you. Recent scientific studies reveal that plastics are not just polluting our oceans and landscapes; they're now being found in our blood, brains, and bodies, suggesting serious health risks. This alarming evidence has strengthened our resolve to reduce plastic use in our operations.

Why Reduce Plastics?

Plastics, especially in forms like bubble wrap, are common in the moving industry for protecting goods. However, their pervasive presence in our environment and bodies calls for urgent action. We are dedicated to not only meeting but exceeding the expectations of our customers and the planet by finding safer, sustainable alternatives.

Challenges We Face:
We understand that many of our customers rely on the protection that plastic bubble wrap offers. Yet, we believe that there are viable, eco-friendly alternatives available. Transitioning away from plastics is not just a matter of swapping out materials; it involves overcoming supply challenges and rethinking our approach to packaging and protection.

Our Approach:
We are accelerating efforts to replace plastic wrap with materials that ensure the safety of your belongings while being kind to the environment. This transition is complex, especially in areas where supply of alternative materials faces hurdles. But be assured, we are working tirelessly to make this change as swift and smooth as possible.
Join us in embracing this vital change. Together, we can make a significant impact—for our health, our homes, and our planet. 🌎💚

US Military releases pictures of aid pier under construction off Gaza coast.

📦 How It Works:
Under this innovative plan, aid will be loaded onto commercial ships in Cyprus and transported to this floating platform, currently being constructed off the coast of Gaza. From there, pallets of aid will be transferred to trucks, which will then load onto smaller ships. These ships will travel along a newly built, 550-meter (1,800 ft) metal, floating causeway that leads directly to the shore.

📍 why is this important ?
Located just southwest of Gaza City and north of a crucial road built by the Israeli military, this new port is strategically important. The region, once the most populous area of Gaza, has seen over a million people displaced southwards due to ongoing conflicts. The construction of this pier is crucial, particularly as escalating conflicts in southern Gaza threaten to sever main delivery routes from Egypt, making traditional aid delivery increasingly challenging.
Move One teams in around the world and in the region continue to work around the clock with our partners to ensure we get maximum amount of aid into the right hands.

Niger - Beginning of the End?

Photos from Move One Logistics's post 24/04/2024

🐾✈️ Could this crate cause your pet to be quarantined ?

Did you know most countries now mandate that all wooden crates, used for transporting animals, must adhere to the ISPM 15 standard? This requires the wood to undergo heat or chemical treatment to prevent pest infestations. List of countries : https://www.aphis.usda.gov/plant-exports/wood-packaging-material/countries-requiring-ispm15

Why is this important? In many countries like Ethiopia, facilities to treat wood to these standards are scarce (or do not exist). This often leads to the use of untreated wood or counterfeit compliance stamps. ⛔️If this happens, you might be held responsible for any resulting charges, and your pet could be quarantined or returned to its country of origin.

Your responsibility ? Even if you employ a shipping company, it remains your duty to ensure every piece of wood in your pet’s crate (excluding plywood or pressboard) has a valid ISPM 15 stamp. Look for the "wheat symbol" on the wood; additional markings may vary by country.

🇳🇪🚫🇺🇸 Loosing the hearts and minds and everything else.
