Kings' School Dubai

Last week, the children of KSD celebrated World Ocean Day by not only showcasing their wonderful costumes, but also by engaging in a range of activities and quizzes to promote awareness of our oceans and sustainability. The children were introduced to the Dubai Can Reef project, which is being led by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Inspired by this, the Eco-Warrior leaders designed activities based on reef animals and allocated these to each year group to further promote the Dubai Can Reef Project, which are all now very keen to follow.

Congratulations to all the Year 5 and 6 children who participated in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge! Taking on such a rare and rigorous competition, typically reserved for older students, is no small feat. Your skill, resilience, and dedication in tackling complex puzzles and problems designed for those two to three years your senior is truly admirable.
This fantastic achievement showcases not only your mathematical talents but also your commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing challenges.

🌍✨ We're thrilled to announce that King’s School Dubai has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the largest Hama bead map in the world! 🎉 This incredible achievement was made possible thanks to the dedication and creativity of every single one of our students who placed beads with care and enthusiasm.

A huge thank you to Boxfetti for providing not only the colourful beads but also the inspiration behind this wonderful initiative. Your support brought this project to life and helped make our vision a reality.

Today was truly inspiring! The KSD Eco-Warriors took on the challenge of a beach clean to fulfill one of our Plastic Pledges! Their enthusiasm and dedication were unmatched as they scoured the sand! Whilst we are extremely proud of our beautiful, clean beaches, we were surprised to find so much plastic and litter in such a short space of time.
Witnessing their passion for the environment and their commitment to making a difference fills us with hope for a cleaner, greener future.

This week, the Year 2 and 3 Eco-Warrior leaders from KSD were extremely fortunate to be able to attend a Q+A session with the wonderful Dr Jane Goodall.

She is considered to be the world's expert on chimpanzees; after spending 60 years studying their social and family interactions, she is now spending time promoting her programme, 'Roots and Shoots'.

This is a programme between schools in the UK and the UAE and provides a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn about the importance of our environment and sustainability. Our Eco-Warriors had an incredible experience, not only meeting Dr Goodall in person, but also spending time in the Sustainability Pavilion at Expo-City learning about what we can do to further protect our planet!

The children are looking forward to sharing their experience with the rest of the children in their phases this week.

Our FS1 children have been celebrating Dwarfism Awareness Day!

Our pupils came together to promote inclusivity, understanding, and acceptance. Through informative workshops and fun activities, we raised awareness of the challenges and triumphs of individuals with dwarfism.
