Artists Miriam Schmid and Redina Qose talk about their artistic practices and research interests. They part of two month-long studio scholarship by the province of Styria, Austria, organised by ZETA Contemporary Art Center, supported by Land Steiermark - A9 Culture, Europe, Außenbeziehungen.

Miriam Schmid studied education and educational sciences and was trained in theater pedagogy. She is active as a freelance performer, director and theater maker in Graz and Vienna. In 2014 she won the cabaret competition Grazer Kleinkunstvogel and co founded the performance collective Das Planetenparty Prinzip in 2015. She was awarded the startup fellowship for performing arts of Bundeskanzleramt Österreich in 2020. After curating the performance section, she has been leading the cross-disciplinary art association Forum Stadtpark together with Robin Klengel and Markus Gönitzer, since 2021. Her artistic focus is on developing concepts for performances (live or video) that explore the boundaries of reality and fiction.

Redina Qose, born in 1996 in Patos, Albania, is currently living and working in Tirana. She earned her degree in Multimedia from the University of Arts in Tirana in 2019. Her artistic practice spans across various mediums, in visual and conceptual art, such as photography, video art, performance, and audio-visual installation, reflecting on thought-provoking narratives. Her work explores themes like migration, beliefs, exploring the complexities of human relations, and societal issues. In her practice she reflects also on generational trauma, and the enduring impact of historical and social contexts on Albanian contemporary realities.

Falendrojmë përzemërsisht këngëtaren e muzikës popullore Mukades Çanga “Mjeshtër i Madh”, ku zëri i saj mbushi ambjentet e galerisë me freskinë e fertilitetit emocinal të oborreve shkodrane të periudhës paraindustriale. Në peizazhin e kryqytetit të sotëm shqiptar, si pandjeshmëri e klasës politike, shumë oborre po sakrifikohen për t'i lënë vend gradaçelave.

We sincerely thank the folk music singer Mukades Çanga "Great Master", where her voice filled the gallery with the freshness of the emotional fertility of the Shkodra courtyards of the pre-industrial period. In the landscape of today's Albanian capital, due to the insensitivity of the political class, many yards are being sacrificed to make way for skyscrapers.

Në kuadër të ekspozitës "Petalet e Panumërueshme" do të mbahet një mbrëmje muzikore, ku këngetarja popullore Mukades Çanga do të mbush ambientet e Qendrës ZETA me zërin e saj 'a ca****la' nëpërmjet teksteve të këngëve folklorike nga qyteti i Shkodrës. Këngët janë rezultat i marrëdhënies intime të shoqërisë me oborrin si burim fertil frymëzimi gjatë periudhës paraindustriale. Intensiteti i kërcënimit të këtij dimensioni shoqëror me oborrin është rritur nga pandjeshmëria e komunitetit me pozita të pushtetshme dhe logjikës së abuzimit në interes të akumulimit financiar.

The Voice of Flowers

In the framework of the exhibition "Innumerable Petals" a musical evening will be held, where folk singer Mukades Çanga will fill the spaces of ZETA Center with her voice 'a ca****la' and the lyrics of folk songs from the city of Shkodra. The songs are the result of the intimate relationship of society with the courtyard as a fertile source of inspiration during the pre-industrial period. The intensity of the threat of this social dimension with the yard has increased by the insensitivity of the community in powerful positions and the logic of abuse in the interest of financial accumulation.

Në kuadër të ekspozitës "Petalet e Panumërueshme" në Galerinë ZENIT do të mbahet një mbrëmje poetike, ku shkrimtari shqiptar Krenar Zejno është ftuar të përzgjedhë disa poezi historike nga shekulli 20-të dhe 21-të. Subjekti i poezive nënvizon raportin mes luleve dhe politikës.

In the framework of the exhibition "Innumerable Petals" at ZENIT Gallery will be a poetic evening where Albanian writer, Krenar Zejno is invited to make a selection of historical poems from the 20th and 21st centuries. The subject of the poems predominates between flowers and politics.

Qendra për Artin Bashkëkohor ZETA ka kënaqësinë të shpallë të hapur Thirrjen për Çmimin ARDHJE 2024 dhe fton artistë të rinj, nën moshën 35 vjeç, të dërgojnë aplikimet e tyre. Qendra ZETA organizon këtë çmim, në bashkëpunim me Residency Unlimited (RU), institucioni i cili pret artistin fitues si rezident dy-mujor në New York, mbështetur nga fondacioni 'The Trust for Mutual Understanding', NY dhe Ministria e Ekonomisë, Kulturës dhe Inovacionit.

Çmimi ARDHJE organizohet si një konkurs i përvitshëm, që ka për qëllim të nxisë krijimtarinë, ekspozimin dhe promovimin e artit bashkëkohor në Shqipëri dhe ndërkombëtarisht. ARDHJE është pjesë e rrjetit ‘Young Visual Artist Award’ që nga viti 2007. Ashtu si dhe çmimet simotra në Europën Lindore dhe Juglindore, ARDHJE është një konkurs i hapur, që fton artistët të marin pjesë në një proçes transparent, që ofron jo vetëm mundësi për krijimin dhe prezantimin e veprave të reja në një ekspozitë të përbashkët, por edhe mbështetje në zhvillimin e tyre artistik dhe profesional. Një juri e përbërë nga profesionistë të fushës, vendas dhe ndërkombëtar, do të përzgjedhë katër artistët finalistë. Zgjedhja e artistit fitues bëhet nëpërmjet një shqyrtimi të veprave të propozuara, CV’s, Portfolio’s të secilit kandidat dhe cilësisë së intervistës me anëtaret e jurisë ndërkombëtare.

Afati përfundimtar për të dërguar aplikimin është 20 qershor 2024.
Lista e 4 artistëve të përzgjedhur si finalistë do të publikohet brenda datës 30 qershor 2024. Artistëve finalist do t’u akordohet një shumë prej 150.000AL për realizimin e veprës pjesëmarrëse në ekspozitë. Hapja e ekspozitës me artistët finalistë dhe shpallja e fituesit do të mbahet në muajin tetor 2024.

Kriteret e aplikimit

Thirrja është e hapur për artistë që janë aktivë në skenën e artit bashkëkohor në Shqipëri dhe atë ndërkombëtare prej së paku 3 vjet. Artistët shqiptarë që jetojnë jashtë Shqipërisë, duhet të jenë aktiv në skenën artistike në vend, duke ekspozuar në 3 vitet e fundit. Artistë që nuk janë shtetas të Shqipërisë mund të marrin pjesë vetëm nëse kanë një kontribut të posaçëm në zhvillimin e skenës së artit në vend, si dhe karriera e tyre artistike është ngushtësisht e lidhur me Shqipërinë.

Mund të aplikojnë artistë të cilët punojnë në të gjitha gjinitë e artit pamor, që përfshin pikturë, skulpturë, grafikë, vizatim, instalacion, fotografi, video, mediumet e reja dhe performancë.
Nuk do të pranohen artistë që punojnë kryesisht në artet e aplikuara, dizajn, teatër, vallëzim dhe film artistik.

Aplikanti/ja duhet të ketë mbaruar studimet universitare gjatë fazës së aplikimit dhe rezidencës.

Artistët duhet të aplikojnë drejtpërdrejtë si individ dhe jo si grupe artistike, pasi rezidenca në NY mund të mikpresë vetëm një artist.
Aplikanti/ja duhet të zotërojë anglishten e folur dhe të shkruar.

Aplikimi duhet të përmbajë:

1. Emër, mbiemër, data e lindjes, adresë, nr. telefoni, e-mail.

2. Curriculum Vitae (shqip dhe anglisht) PDF.

3. Portfolio prej jo më shumë se 10 imazhe apo video still të shoqëruara me informacionin përkatës (titulli, viti, teknika, dimensionet dhe ku është shfaqur vepra).

4. Projekt-ide apo vepra të propozuara për pjesëmarrje në ekspozitën e finalistëve (projekti mund të jetë i ri ose i realizuar gjatë dy viteve të fundit).

5. Një tekst në shqip dhe anglisht, prej jo më shumë se 350 fjalë, mbi karakterin e punës dhe praktikës suaj artistike.

Redina Qose pjesë e programit të residencës dy mujore, nga krahina e Styrias, Austri, organizuar nga ZETA Contemporary Art Center, mbështetur nga Land Steiermark - A9 Kultura, Europa, Außenbeziehungen.

Redina Qose, e lindur në vitin 1996 në Patos të Shqipërisë, aktualisht jeton dhe punon në Tiranë. U diplomua për Multimedia nga Universiteti i Arteve në Tiranë në vitin 2019. Praktika e saj artistike shtrihet në mediume të ndryshme, si fotografia, video arti, performanca dhe instalacioni audio-vizual, duke reflektuar dhe nxitur mendime mbi narrativat e ndryshme. Puna e saj eksploron tema si migrimi, besimet, eksplorimi i kompleksitetit të marrëdhënieve njerëzore dhe çështjet shoqërore. Në praktikën e saj ajo reflekton edhe mbi traumat e brezave, dhe ndikimin e qëndrueshëm të konteksteve historike dhe sociale në realitetet bashkëkohore shqiptare.

Miriam Schmid vjen në Tiranë në kuadër të Programit të Residencës dy mujore, nga krahina e Styrias, Austri, organizuar nga Qendra ZETA Contemporary Art Center, mbështetur nga Land Steiermark - A9 Kultura, Europa, Außenbeziehungen.

Miriam Schmid studjoi shkencat arsimore dhe u trajnua në pedagogji teatrale. Ajo është aktive si performuese 'freelance', regjisore dhe krijuese teatrale në Graz dhe Vjenë. Në vitin 2014 ajo fitoi konkursin e kabaresë 'Grazer Kleinkunstvogel' dhe bashkë-themeloi kolektivin performues 'Das Planetenparty Prinzip' në vitin 2015. Schmid është pjesë gjithashtu kolektivit "Bundeskanzleramt Österreich" nga viti 2020. Pas kurimit të seksionit të performancave, ajo ka udhëhequr shoqatën e artit ndërdisciplinar 'Forum Stadtpark' bashkë me Robin Klengel dhe Markus Gönitzer, që nga viti 2021. Fokusi artistik i saj është zhvillimi i koncepteve performative (live ose video) që eksplorojnë kufijtë midis realitetit dhe fiksionit.

Abi Shehu part of Innumerable Petals

Abi Shehu (b.1993 Lezha, Albania) is a multi-disciplinary visual artist, whose artistic research can be described as an archeology of unconsciousness. Through a combination of visual and media art, from installation to sound art, she creates landscapes that embody the unrepresentable and unknowable dimensions of people, societies, places and historical events.

Alfred Lenz part of Innumerable Petals

Alfred Lenz is an Austrian Artist who lives and works in Vienna and Studenzen. He Studied Transmedia Art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and Generative Art at the Berlin University of the Arts. In addition to countless exhibitions, he runs the L201 art space in Studenzen which is located directly next to a street with a traffic volume of more than 20.000 vehicles per day.

Rosella Pellicciotti part of Innumerable Petals

Pellicciotti is a Italian-Albanian dancer/performer and movement director with dance, theatre and visual artists. She graduated in Choreography Bachelor (2016) and Master (2018) at the University of Arts, Tirana. She is currently collaborating as an artist with the ‘was bleibt kollektiv | Gentian Doda’, as well as in the production department.

Ryts Monet part of Innumerable Petals

Enricomaria De Napoli (Ryts Monet), Bari, 1982, lives and works in Vienna. He studied at the University IUAV of Venice, where he graduated in the BA Visual Arts in 2007 and in 2011 he specialized in Visual Communication (MA Program). In 2022 Ryts Monet became a regular member of the Vienna Secession.
