ATTENTION! NEW EXPEDITION! NEW POSTS COMING (almost) DAILY!
Dear friends and followers. I am thrilled to announce that in just few short days, we will embark on an incredible journey with the GREAT SPINE OF AFRICA by The Wilderness Project.
Our daring team will paddle down the majestic Zambezi River, traversing it at the stretch that crosses Angola from north to south at the Moxico province. A journey that will span nearly three weeks and countless kilometers, under the open skies and amidst the vibrant wilderness.
But why this journey, you may ask? We're on a mission to explore, understand, and preserve this unique ecosystem. The Zambezi river, one of Africa's lifelines, is teeming with diverse life forms and supports millions of people who rely on its waters. Our expedition aims to shed light on this invaluable ecosystem, contributing to its conservation for the generations to come.
We invite you all to follow this journey with us - there will be challenges, laughter, unexpected moments, and discoveries. we are hoping to share our progress, the beauty of the river and its surroundings, and the faces we meet along the way, right here on social media.
Join us as we paddle for a purpose, for our Perpetual Planet! 🌍
But first, we would love to know - What would you like to learn about the Zambezi and its ecosystem? Are there any specific things you'd be interested in hearing about during our expedition? Comment down below, and we’ll do our best to address them during our adventure! Please have in mind that we will have no means of communication except for one solar powered satellite dish that provides only 256kbps internet “speed” and only in perfect weather conditions, for 2-3hrs a day at night. Thus our reply and feedback might take a while…
Stay tuned, because this journey is as much yours as it is ours. We're in this together, for our planet!

Throwback post from the expedition, June 2018: a few days ago we camped next to one of the lagoons along the majestic Cuando river. The next morning at sunrise the air was so still (and so cold) that the surface of the water was smooth as a perfect mirror reflecting and multiplying the beauty of the water-lilies. Perfection and art in nature at its best!

African People & Wildlife is proud to announce that we’re joining the National Geographic Okavango Wilderness Project as an invited partner in collaboration with National Geographic Society and Wild Bird Trust. Our team is excited to lend our community engagement expertise to help protect the Okavango River Basin—one of Africa’s richest places for biodiversity—and support the communities who live alongside it in Angola.
Several members of our team just conducted a baseline survey in Angola, engaging with the local people to identify diverse opportunities for sustainable livelihoods and inform project priorities going forward.
