Ihr Lieben! Es war so schön, mit euch allen letzten Samstag im Mi Barrio feiern zu dürfen - danke, danke danke dass ihr dabei wart. Wir sind immer noch etwas sprachlos ob der vielen Emotionen und Eindrücke und brauchen wohl noch etwas um wieder zu Worten zu kommen. Bis dahin lassen wir mal Bilder sprechen. Mi Barrio Manic High

Our last album "We are so busy doing things" was released in January 2021. It was a project close to our hearts, where we did everything ourselves and ended up casting it on the finest white vinyl at Austrovinyl. Unfortunately, we were in the middle of the corona pandemic at the time, so there were no concerts and for a while the band's work took place exclusively online.

We'll be presenting a lot of it to you on Saturday. Until then, stream, buy and like the album on Spotify, Apple Music etc.

Late summer 2016 took us to a vineyard and thus to another extraordinary location. On the meadow between the vines and with a view over the whole of Vienna, we played as part of a summer concert series at Biohof Nr. 5 in Stammersdorf. Probably our quietest concert to date with a complete uplugged set.

Grundsteingasse... we already told you that we had a small studio there for a while and recorded the Population album at this place. On 28 May 2016, we celebrated a little coming home and were able to play the fantastic courtyard once again as part of a big party. Very beautiful, very emotional, lots of people...

The first years with Werner Rammer from 2013 to 2016 were characterized by a lot of composition work and finding a new line. After Population, there was a bit of a lull, at least in phases. Florian Fessl also brought new impulses as a drummer. We played a few concerts, including the very last one at the legendary Tüwi Kultur which was then torn down and rebuilt. Not because of us - we promise.
We did a lot of studio work and the idea of a new album was floating around in our heads. With the digitally released EP "Everything will be good soon", some very early versions of new songs were released to the public in 2016, at least the working basis for the album that was to be released later.

On 1.6.2007 we played a brilliant concert at Tüwi Kultur / BOKU - Universität für Bodenkultur Wien. Who was not there at that time has missed the unique performances of "Dancing with tears in my eyes", "A view to a kill" and "Just like heaven". Who took the nice pictures we don't know again so we ask for hints!

Population, our first Starpilots album, was released in 2008 by Hoanzl and received some attention in the Austrian music feuilleton. radio FM4 invited us to the and the (Happy Birthday btw!) and the videos ran on Gotv - be part of it since YouTube, which started as a video platform in 2005 was still far from its role as a music video host.
The song Gold was part of a video projection in the Austria Pavilion at . You can find the album on Spotify and Apple Music.

In 2007 we unfortunately had to leave Grundsteingasse. It was our homebase for a few years and dear to our hearts - sniff. But we had also finished the album Population there so far that we were just waiting for the release.
In April 2007 we played a pre-release gig at B72 in Vienna and recorded a live video for the first single of the album Population. Again with a lot of nice and lovely people and this time even with a camera crane - you don't treat yourself to anything else.

At the end of 2006, the album Population was almost finished, we played a concert at the Viennese club Shelter. On board at that time was Alex Panrok, who also played drums for . We don't have much memory of it, but the Shelter was packed and the photos we found in the archive were great. Unfortunately we don't know who took the photos - do any of you have an idea?

As a teaser for our first album as Starpilots we produced a video for "Gasping for Air" at Studio Dopplinger in 2006 with thousands of watts of light, steadycam and a huge team of people supporting us.

Here again all those who were there, it was a great time.

We forgot something important from Time of Millennia. After Hannes had left the band as guitarist and we changed our name to Starpilots, we released the track ambulance 13, which was already on the Stories album, as a video single in 2001. Our friends from jellybeat and Epy remixed the song, which also appeared on the soundtrack to the film Ikarus. On top of that, a video has been added - what a productive year.

After 24 years, we have finally released our first album "stories from the research labs" digitally on bandcamp. So stream, like and share. It's about time that we take care of the Bandcamp account a bit more again - 😁

2003 took us to for a mini-tour. We had released the song on the Pop You 2 (For those about to pop) sampler in 2002, curated by the . Mawe from the Oberpfalz/Nürnberg was the mastermind behind it. According to him, music wasn't dead where he came from, because it didn't even exist.
We started at the in - so exciting. And then it went on to , and . Concerts with , , , and . God, there would be so much to tell about frozen windscreen wipers, German border police, Michi Beck from Fanta 4, sleeping in the projector room of an old cinema.... Just life on tour. Let's talk about it on 11th November.

CD presentation „stories from the reseach labs“ 26.09.1999 at FLEX

Enough of the really old stuff. After a series of tapes and an EP, we released our first CD, "stories from the reseach labs", on P.A.M. Records in 1999. The album was also released in Japan and rare singles can still be found on amazon.co.jp - we are still waiting for an invitation for a tour through Japan.
We are currently working on making the album available digitally as well. You know... it was a different time. And we will bring a few leftover pieces on 11.11. - final sale 😘

1995, our second festival summer took us to the Url River Festival. Legendary at the time with bands like Clouds over Chrysler, who were the figureheads of the Austrian scene alongside Occidental blue Harmony Lovers and Bomb Circle.

On 9.7.1994 we played our first concert with Gernot on the microphone at the Seewiesenfest in Kleinreifling/OÖ. Together with H.P.Zinker, Play the tracks of, Schönheitsfehler, Wipeout and other highlights of the subculture at that time. It was quite exciting and awarding, as the Seewiesenfest gathered „la Crème de la Crème“ of alternative music in the Ennstal even back then. In our tour diary we found the note that we had signed an autograph on our freshly produced tape for the first time - how exciting.

After Gernot joined the band as singer in 1994, there was a need for new band photos. We had all landed in Vienna in the meantime and in autumn 1994 we used the surroundings of the then completely desolate Meiselmarkt in the 15th district as a backdrop. The photos were taken by Peter Pölzl.

In the first months of 1994 we recorded our first demo tape called "These words are not really important" because we had no idea what to call it. The recording took place at Bourbon Records in Vienna's Harmoniegasse, and it was our first time in a real studio. The artwork, a Christie Turlington - Skull crossover, was designed by Christian Hummer-Koppendorfer. The tape with the songs "Sober" and "I've fallen in love with my psychiatrist" got some attention in the local and national music media like Bonjour from the KAPU in Linz.

On 19th May 1995 we played a gig at Quake, together with our old fellows from Ulugh Muz Tagh. The Quake was probably the first location that hosts some kind of in at that time.
