LUIGI NONO 1924 - 1990

ARTE TV broadcast yesterday evening a new film about composer LUIGI NONO, dating from 2024; in this film, INGO METZMACHER who has just conducted the GMJO on its Summer Tour 2024 with two extraordinary concert programmes - featuring amongst other works Luigi Nono’s A Carlo Scarpa - is one of the key contributors; the documentary is available until 14.12.2024 here:

GMJO SUMMER TOUR 2024 - AMSTERDAM

Unfortunately, to this day there is no review on the GMJO concert under INGO METZMACHER in Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam from 29 August 2024.

In other cities, there are average 3-5 reviews on each of our concerts, only in Amsterdam we guest-appeared without any news coverage, not even from the blogger scene which is very active in other cities. This is alarming.

Parallely, our friend SIMON REININK, General Director of Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, wrote an open letter, together with conductor JAAP VAN ZWEDEN, on the current state of Dutch music education, quoting the fact that there were no Dutch musicians participating in the GMJO Summer Tour 2024 (behind paywall) - your thoughts?

After a short stopover for a sold-out concert at the Dolomites in DOBBIACO / TOBLACH, we are heading towards Wiesbaden, for the final concert of the Rheingau Musik Festival - which is also our last tour concert.

Just before our concert tonight at the Center Gustav Mahler Toblach for the festival_dolomites, we had the chance to visit Gustav Mahler‘s composing hut - where Mahler composed, during stays between 1908-1910, the Lied von der Erde and Symphonies No. 9 and 10.
