Caribou Lodge has recently done a bit of a rebrand, and we at Motmot think it looks fantastic! Having worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for most of my adult life, I would like to think I have an eye for good design.

What? Skate legend and artist at the Motmot shop? Andy and have a killer art show at in Vienna opening tonight! Go!

I had the great luck to run into the one and only today! Daewon is a straight up legend, pushing the boundaries of skateboarding for over 30 years! The only skater that could go toe to toe with Rodney Mullen!
Thank you for the time and for the photo, we even had time to talk for a bit, such a great guy who continues to inspire!

It was fun catching up, and talking about bands, yo-yos, screenprinting, yo-yos, records and yo-yos.
I should have taken a hundred more pics, but I was geeking out on all of the classic band t-shirt screens!
In true punk rock fashion, Rev has kept their operation completely independent and does so much in-house, and they have kept it going for so long, it blows my mind!

SF was a blast! I’m so happy I was able to hang out with some of my best friends and favorite people.
1. Carlos has been one of my best friends since the Cerritos High days. His daughters’ band the happened to be playing in SF the night we were leaving. We missed the show but had an epic breakfast!!!
2. Epic hang with Karl K. .bb and we all go way back. Waaaaay back.
3. The one and only ! Another Epic hang with Doc the biggest influence on my yo-yoing, and a super cool dude!

Plastic Peak will be coming to Motmot later in the month. We’re taking a long overdue trip to the USA, and will be stocking the Plastic Peak, as well as the Klondike and Minitee later in August.

It’s that time of year, we’re traveling the world and will see you in a few weeks. Any online orders will be shipped at that time. Thanks!

Here is an etching Rick Froberg sent me ages ago. Maybe 1996 or 1997? Most people will know Rick through music, and while Rick was a great singer and guitarist, he was an immensely talented visual artist. There seemed to be no art technique that Rick did not master. On top of his technique, Rick had a originality and artistic voice that was as unique as his singing voice. His art was thought-provoking, mysterious, and after 30 years I’m still wondering what’s going on in this print.

I remember a conversation with Rick and I feel like I learned more in a 20 minute conversation than a year of art classes in college.
When I asked him what his art was about, he responded, that his artwork wasn’t about any particular thing, but that he was trying to leave the viewer with an impression.
I was so lucky to be able talk to him about art, printmaking, comics, and graphic design.
Thank you for all of the artwork, Rick. Thank you for everything.
