Pholcodine cough medicines cancelled by the TGA and recalled from pharmacies for safety reasons Following a safety investigation into pholcodine the TGA are cancelling 55 products (from the ARTG) and recalling them from pharmacy shelves due to an increased risk of anaphylactic reactions.

✨Benzac ✨
Benzac has taken two powerful ingredients – benzoyl peroxide (BPO) and their own unique AC technology (acrylates copolymer; that is, tiny beads that absorb up to four times their own weight in fluid) to form a combination that combats the culprit of acne – bacteria.

This bacteria lives at the base of the millions of hair follicles covering your body. Normally, it lives peacefully off the natural occurring oils your body produces, breaking it down as food.

But when there is an imbalance to this process and an oversupply of oil, these bacteria multiply. Acne begins to develop. That means it’s time to put your Benzac AC treatment gel or wash to work.

The active ingredient benzoyl peroxide first delivers the potent antibacterial action needed to kill off the acne-causing bacteria that has multiplied. This reduces the inflammation and removes dead skin cells that are clogging your pores.

Then, within the same treatment application, our AC technology acts like a sponge on your skin, making sure any excess oil is fully absorbed.

Once the excess oil is removed, the glycerin properties of the AC technology helps to reduce dryness and hydrate your skin.

Ouch! Do you have some painful blisters? ☹️

A blister is a bubble of fluid that sits under the top layer of skin. They are commonly formed by friction or pressure, and can appear anywhere on the body.

Minor blisters will often dry up after a week or two and should be left alone to heal. You can cover the blister with a loose bandage if you think it will pop. 🩹

If you believe you have a more severe blister, please consult your doctor.

Can you prevent a blister? Sure! There are definitely some tricks you can try. Our favourite tip is to cover friction spots with tape or use an anti-friction skin balm. Our friendly pharmacists can help you with these.

☀️ UVA vs UVB rays. What’s the difference? ☀️

They both damage the skin, but they do this in different ways.

UVA Rays (think “A” for “Ageing”)
These rays pe*****te deep in to the skin layers and are mainly responsible for wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

UVB Rays (think “B” for “Burning”)
These rays cause the most obvious result of sun damage – sunburn. While they don’t pass through the top layers of skin like UVA rays, they play a big role in the development of skin cancer.

For full protection from UVA and UVB rays, you need to ensure you are using a broad-spectrum sunscreen. For extra care, limit your time in the sun and wear protective clothing including a hat and sunglasses. 😎
