My newest student 😜, she’s stuck like glue to my side when I practice with her cardboard violin and sticker foot chart. So she just pretends to play and insists on her own music stand at all times. It’s pretty cute 🥰 🎻

Congratulations to Alicia, Geneviève and Sam for all completing your 💯 days of practice challenge. Last night we celebrated by going to see the Symphony. Thankyou for an awesome concert and for for graciously meeting some new young fans (after a brilliant play of Prokofiev 1 🎻).

Congratulations to Ava for completing 💯 days of practice challenge. We got to celebrate her achievement today and instead of taking a day or two off to relax Ava told me that she has started working towards her next goal ….500 days! Proud as punch 🎻

Little plug for my upcoming recital…friends who may be intersted. I’m playing a recital with the wonderful Lucinda Collins in a couple of weeks at the Elder Conservatorium Friday Lunchtime series. Nearly ready for grade 7 exam. I love helping each of my students set big goals and guide them as they go through the process of achieving them. It’s not an easy process and requires a consistent practice routine…but it can actually be lots of fun and truly satisfiying when each student can see their own growth.

Another celebration of a terrific exam result and more importantly an incredible journey of remarkable improvement. Now we get to start grade 7 🎊🎻

Something special happens when a young person finds their instrument..they get to experience making something beautiful. From learning to hold the instrument to acquiring the skills to play a whole piece it also grows their confidence and capacity in life. One of the many reasons learning an instrument can be a powerful tool for building confidence and resilience.

Welcome to my Violin Studio,

I am so glad we have crossed paths!
I have been playing the violin since I was 4 years old. I was in love from the first touch and have spent my life learning, making music with friends, sharing music with people from all walks of life and have also been lucky enough to have a wonderful career giving concerts all over the world. It is a privilege to pass on my knowledge and skills to the next generation and provide violin lessons and training to young people who are also passionate about making music and wanting to grow in their skills but also grow as a person.

My commitment to my students is to nurture and inspire the gift of music: To tailor make learning plans based on the individual by choosing repertoire that will inspire and challenge: To provide a healthy, balanced musical diet that nourishes and supports growth, but also has variety and flavour: To encourage performance, examination and ensemble opportunities: To nurture development of important life skills such as organisation and goal setting within the context of a healthy and thriving practice routine.

A flourishing teacher/student relationship requires mutual values and commitment to learning. The commitment I expect from my students is: To be diligent in practice and come prepared to lessons: Open communication about what is working well and what they need help with: Be open to new ideas and hungry to learn more.
