As unpopular as the word "Prosthetics" is, it is more known amongst people than Orthotics.
Orthotics deals with the design, fabrication, and fitting of braces, splints, and other devices to support, protect, or correct deformities of the musculoskeletal system (deformities affecting the muscles, joints or bone).
Simply put, Orthotics deals with devices that manage deformities such as scoliosis or knock knees, prevent a joint from moving in order to promote healing or prevent a body part from getting injured.
It's similar to prosthetics in that, they can both be prefabricated or custom made and made with the same materials. However, prosthetics is used to replace a missing body part while orthotics is used in the management of deformities.
We will be consulting from Enable Fitness Centre Elizabeth from now onwards.

These resting AFOâs with MultiMotion joints did a great job for a kid with bilateral ankle contractures.
It allows parents and allied health team to stretch and maintain the ankle ROM.

Perspective
During the MyoPro screening process we give our clients an opportunity to practice some functional tasks using props.
The Mark has multiple modes to practice individual actions such as elbow flexion (biceps mode) and extension (triceps mode), hand open and close modes.
MYOPRO screening day at OrthoticSA.
Mr. O suffered a stroke in 2014 and developed high tone and spasticity in his left elbow and wrist.
He wishes to complete activities of daily living to increase his independence and use left hand for functional tasks.
MyoPro is a powered brace for elbows, hands, wrists - the only such device that can help restore function to an arm and hand weakened or paralyzed by stroke, brachial plexus injury or other neuromuscular disease or injury.
