I'm a CON-ARTIST!!😲

That's what I have been called recently by my client's family psychologist.

The psychologist warned my client to be cautious with the 'claims' I had made.

'Healing a lifetime of s***ual trauma cannot be healed in only three sessions! That's impossible!'

The psychologist asked for my details, and my client reached out and asked what they should do?

My reply was, 'Don't be mad with your psychologist, if I didn't know the potency of this work then I would think I'm a con artist too! She is just looking out for you, which is a good thing. Just relax, we will do our work together and let the results speak for themselves.'

I had back-to-back parent-teacher interviews for 3 1/2 hours yesterday. (Five kids, baby).

The conversations were so interesting, and my experience was that my kids’ teachers were relieved to be invited to have honest conversations about who my kids are, their strengths, and the areas where they can develop.

I know who my kids are, I love ALL of who they are, and happy to acknowledge and accept all that they are.

Nothing is perceived as positive or negative, those are paradigms of the past and don’t serve anyone.

We are all works in progress (hopefully) constantly evolving as we should.

One of the most beautiful compliments I received as a parent yesterday was:

‘What we always see with all of your children is tremendous and consistent growth.’

I love that!

Holding space to allow all experiences serve us with curiosity, respect, loving boundaries, and a dedication to learn and actively apply the lessons that we’ve learned is essential for our kids to truly step into and unleash their true potential.

Open communication is key in my family. It is an expectation that when we talk, we share the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth when my children and I talk. it is from a place of responsible honesty whereby we discuss, analyze, and review any situation of a challenging nature. We identify their role of responsibility in it, and how it could be used as an evaluation tool to better inform the next situation. It’s so important that we, as parents, leave a big open space supported by healthy boundaries for our children to make mistakes.

Some of these mistakes may be small, some of them may be huge.

It’s important to create an environment where our kids, at any age, can come and talk to us about anything and everything. We need to receive that, without judgement, and be ready to support and guide them to continue to organically unfold and reach their full potential.

That’s why knowing the distinction between blame, accountability, and responsibility is so important to how we all respond to each situation that we are presented with.

We use a LOT of humour in our house.

We rarely take life too seriously.

One day, I was out-and-about walking with my fantastic five, and we were engaging in some routine banter.

My gang were saying things like:

‘Mum, you love me the most, hey?’
‘No, mum! I’m your favourite aren’t I?’
‘No, mum told me last week that I’m her best child!’

And so on…

To which I finally replied; ‘You all know perfectly well that I dislike you all equally!’

A woman who was observing this crazy scene had a horrified reaction to my comment and was quite obviously condemning me for saying such a thing.

This just increased the laughter tenfold.

We left quickly before security were called. 😆
