Transhipment of cargo is not a new idea for facilitating trade from Ports. In fact, South Australia's maritime history is full of transhipment examples. But as deep water Ports became more prevalent, commodities located near shallow water increasingly relied on land transport to meet deep water vessels.

Through improved vessel design and quayside engineering, T-Ports has shown transhipment to be a viable mode for facilitating trade, one that removes the need for expensive and long-haul land routes.

Our vessel, MV Lucky Eyre, is able to unload grain onto deep water vessels five nautical miles from the port, with the capability for loading up to Panamax size vessels. Next time you're in Wallaroo or Lucky Bay, keep an eye out - you might see it passing by.

Over the last six years, T-Ports have supported the state and regional economies by creating hundreds of new jobs, unlocking more commodities and offering sponsorships to local communities. As we continue to reach new milestones and our business grows, we will remain focused on supporting Aussie farmers and the rural communities that they come from. Not only are they the backbone of the farming economy, but without them, T-Ports would not be where it is today. 👏

We enjoyed a fantastic three days at the Eyre Peninsula Field Days in Cleve this week, with our site experiencing plenty of traffic! It has been wonderful catching up with our grower base, grain buyers and brokers, and we would like to thank everyone who stopped by.

We would also like to say a special thanks to Aussie cricketing legend Brad Hogg for taking the time to visit us and speak to growers on Wednesday. Brad is the National Ambassador of GPA's Farmer Mates Mental Health program, and his stories and focus on grower wellbeing and mental health on the day and in general are greatly appreciated.

Finally, a big thank you to our friends at Fat Farmers for joining us and lending a hand! We always appreciate the opportunity to support the Fat Farmers initiative and look forward to many more collaborations in the future.

Recently, T-Ports CEO Nathan Kent attended a business lunch as part of the Country Cabinet at The Seabreeze Hotel in Tumby Bay.

This lunch was a great opportunity for Nathan to speak about local matters and T-Ports itself with its attendees, including SA Premier Peter Malinauskas MP, the Hon. Clare Scriven MLC (Minister for Primary Industries and Regional Development) and the Hon. Joe Szakacs MP (Minister for Trade and Investment).

About the event, Nathan says, “Discussions were powerful and focused on the opportunities of major projects and benefits to the wider Eyre Peninsula region. As T-Ports CEO, I was humbled by the amount of support and interest from our Premier and his Ministers. T-Ports was noted for innovation and our rapid growth, with conversation targeted to ensure we have long-term sustainable support from the government, given the benefits growers have received since T-Ports inception.”

We would like to thank the MPs for their time and hospitality on the EP and look forward to your next visit.

T-Ports identified in 2017 that, through a shallow-water port and transhipment modelling, it could disrupt the traditional port model by bringing the port to the product.

To date, we have applied this philosophy towards adopting a shallow Port design method to export cereals and pulses from South Australia in bulk. Experience has shown that this model is fast and able to meet a multitude of large-scale import/export opportunities, opening up the door for further expansion and a promising future.
