Shrove Tuesday π₯π This morning, we engaged in the delightful tradition of preparing pancakes for the pre-Lenten feast also known as Pancake Day. This day serves as a moment to contemplate our spiritual journey as we prepare for Lent. We extend our heartfelt wishes to our families for Shrove Tuesday and the commencement of the Lenten season π

π Everyone Belongs π This year Gleeson College is once more supporting Wear It Purple Day to continue to promote inclusion and diversity in line with our Strategic Plan, inclusion statement, and Catholic faith. Knowledge was shared during Care Groups this week to highlight the importance of safety and belonging for all in our community, as well as important anti-homophobia messaging. Staff and students were also invited to wear some purple today to show their support. Why are we celebrating Wear It Purple Day? One of the key social teachings of the Catholic church is that of love, compassion and equality; everyone is deserving of Godβs love. Accordingly, we will continue to welcome students and families from all different backgrounds to our College, and openly accept the religious, ethnic, gender and sexuality diversity in our community. Everyone has the right to feel safe and part of our community. Everyone belongs. #wearitpurpleday2023 #withoneheart #raisingheartsandminds *Please note, we will be moderating comments on this post. βIn a world where you can be anything, be kindβ

βοΈπ₯ HAVE YOU ORDERED YOUR PANCAKES? π₯βοΈ Shrove Tuesday is the last day before the season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. β What's with the pancakes? Pancakes were an easy way for Christians to use up their milk, eggs and sugar before the 40 days of fasting during Lent started. Lent involves adapting a simpler diet without the luxuries of 'fattening' foods! π Next Tuesday 1 March (Shrove Tuesday), students and staff at Gleeson can enjoy pancakes at recess with all funds donated to Project Compassion π **PRE-ORDER ONLY** Due to covid you must pre-order your pancakes via the CARE GROUP FORM by this Friday! The Cost is $2 for two pancakes with your choice of topping. #withoneheart #lent #ProjectCompassion #RaisingHeartsAndMinds #shrovetuesday
