✨ JUDGE SPOTLIGHT: MEMA RANDOM ✨

Mema Random (known then as Mema Sifa) became the first (and so far only) plus-sized and/or person of colour to don the Miss Burlesque South Australia crown in 2015. An Adelaide nerdlesque pioneer, her signature Super Mario routine helped her score "Miss Revival" at Miss Burlesque Australia 2015 and "Star of the West" at Ireland's Galway Burlesque Festival 2017. She’s also lampooned everyone from Freddy Kreuger, to the Big Bang Theory’s Amy Farrah-Fowler, to Frodo… and back again.

Mema has been a showrunner for over a decade, summoning others to “get over here and dance battle” as the producer of “Immoral Kombat” and before that as boss Bazingal of “Bazinga Burlesque”. Whether transforming into a three-eyed-raven, or losing her head in battle as the Queen of Hearts and then finding it again as an headless Bloody Memmy or wrangling as Raiden, her random performances and productions put the "ok?" in kook?

Mema Random can’t wait to take note of the unique, silly and sensational stories the competitors will be stripping to this year’s MxBSA stage.

Connie Curveball has been captivating audiences across the state since 2017, when she made her burlesque debut in the Adelaide Fringe Festival. This veteran of the stage has trained in voice and dance since childhood, with involvement in Adelaide’s musical theatre community providing a gateway into burlesque.

Crowned Mx Burlesque SA 2024 and Miss Classic Australia 2021, Connie brings her commanding presence to each stage she graces. With a love of vintage glamour and theatrics, it’s no wonder Connie fits right in with the extravagant world of burlesque.

Cirque Songstress is cemented in the firmament of cabaret as a true force to be reckoned with on stage.

A performer with an arsenal of abilities from lead vocalist to Aerialist (notably both at the same time) Pianist, Composer and MC, Christine is one of the most versatile and sought after leading ladies of the Australian Cabaret scene.

Cirque Songstress acts combine aerial acrobatics and vocal performance have been featured as headline acts for Torture Garden (Japan) The Melbourne Cabaret Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and Draculas Cabaret (Melbourne and Gold Coast), Risqué R***e (Slide Sydney), Wonderfully Terrible Things (Original Cabaret, Australian Tour) and guest lead performer for the Ashtons circus Infamous (Newcastle and Gold Coast).

Jazida is a q***r and culturally diverse entertainer, producer and dance teacher based on Ngunnawal Land in Canberra. 21st Century Burlesque Magazine says “I will not forget her any time soon” and listed her in the Top 50 most influential burlesque industry figures across the globe for 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Her creativity, professionalism and dedication to her craft has seen her with many awards and accolades. She won the Canberra Local Business Awards for Outstanding Performing Arts in 2020, her feature show “Catch Jazida” won Best Dance at the Adelaide Fringe Festival Weekly Awards, she won Miss Burlesque ACT in 2016, was nominated for ACT Woman of the Year in 2020 and is currently a member of the ACT Minister for Arts Creative Council. As well as being a performer, Jazida works to elevate alternate performing arts and support the industry by producing shows through her production house, Jazida Productions, and delivering artist professional development programs through her Alternate Performing Arts Hub, .hub. She is the creative director and founder of Jazida’s Fabulous Fan Dancers, is the current producer of Miss Burlesque ACT, current producer of Apprentease ACT, and the co-director of the Australian Burlesque Museum.
