Hey there. We’re Scott and Nykita, the creators behind Built Furniture.

We make personalised furniture for personalised homes out of our workshop and showroom in Port Adelaide. Our passion is deep diving into the details of our clients renovation or new build to deliver custom furniture pieces that enhance their home and lifestyle.

Last year we celebrated Scotts 20 years as a Furniture Maker, and this year marks 12 years since we got the wheels turning on the creation of our family business. It has been non stop collaboration in our house ever since, and as challenging and intense as that can be, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

As a husband and wife team we literally make your furniture our business. One of the strengths of our partnership is the ability to push each other creatively and technically, delivering the best outcomes for our clients.
When we’re not discussing the intricacies of our projects over the dinner table you will find us immersed in nature, fishing or finding a new and exciting camping spot to enjoy time out with our mini apprentice, family and friends.

Something you might not know about us:
〰️ Scott was destined to be in business, with his Dad running a crash shop in Port Adelaide for 40 years, along with commercial cattle farms across the state. One was a station located between Wilcannia and Medindee where he spent time riding motorbikes and doing fun farm kid s**t.

〰️Nykita, who grew up between the bush and the beach on the Far West Coast of SA was influenced early by mid century design and culture. As a child of the 90s, days spent driving to the surf in old cars with her parents wasn’t uncommon. These days she’s more likely to be driving her beach mum car, a 77 FJ40 Land Cruiser to the beaches of Adelaide during summer.

Last year we dove into our sketch book and brought our chair ideas into reality.

The journey from hours of prototyping and constructing in the workshop to seeing them delivered into your homes has been nothing short of exhilarating for our team.

We’re currently working with clients on personalising their setting with inspiring fabrics and different timber selections.

With a new chair design on its way we’re looking forward to seeing what timber and chair combos are created this year.

Picturing ourselves nestled in our Mason chair, totally immersed in this space, carving out a serene moment before school pickup.

We’re returning to the workshop today, eager to add another year of woodworking to our journey.

At the end of last year Scott celebrated 20 years and Tim 18 years of making solid timber furniture.

After undertaking their apprenticeships together they have spent a total of 15 years working side by side with only a brief pause while we launched Built.

Along with Claire and Nykita, our dynamic team are ready to get back on the tools and start creating for our clients.

Initially conceived as a pair of boardroom tables, it has become a sought-after dining centerpiece, offering endless options for use and customization.

The Curved Makai buffet is the perfect timber storage unit to get you through the entertaining season with ease.

Customised by our client to include fluted glass panels, keeping those special dinner sets front of mind and hidden Blum soft close drawers for easily accessible cutlery.

Shown in Wormy Chestnut but available in a variety of sustainably sourced, local and imported timbers.

As the workshop dust settles, we're trading woodwork for weatherboard shacks, sawdust for sand, and big tables for big fish.

As a stool, side table or bedside, the piece takes inspiration from the detailed junctions found across the collection.

Presenting as a carved-out cube, the near square height and width dimensions ensure the piece reflects a sense of order, and as a grounding object in space.

Ever wondered how our design ideas transform from imagination into touchable reality?

Like many of our clients, we share a preference for being able to visualize a piece of furniture before it’s constructed.

For original, personalized creations, 3D renders are the best way to offer that glimpse into the future and ensure every detail is captured.

Once we’ve received your “We love it! Let’s do it!” we provide you with a set of technical documents outlining all of the finer details of the piece for your approval.

These drawings are then passed onto the workshop as a roadmap for construction, ensuring the final product is just as envisioned.
