Why cleaning your gutters should be on the top of your list l QBE AU Leaf-blocked gutters may not seem like a big deal but ensuring this part of your home is in good working order has far reaching benefits.
Neil was asked to look at this wall last week, and the client was worried about it crumbling and having white, powdery patches. This damage is caused by salt damp, which happens when water from the ground rises up into the wall and brings salts with it. Over time, these salts build up and make the wall weak and crumbly.
In this case, the damage was made worse because of the use of concrete mortar instead of traditional lime mortar. Concrete mortar can trap moisture and salts in the walls, worsening salt damp and leading to more severe damage.

He was very professional and honest with his advice; our problem ended up not being salt damp and he saved us from spending unnecessary money on unnecessary treatments. Long Answer
Salt Damp is the name in South Australia given to the issue of Rising Damp and Salt Attack.
Whilst many places in the world have rising damp - our salinity levels mean that the damage in SA to your walls is caused not just by rising moisture but also by the salt in our soils that is carried up and into our walls.

There are many damp problems around a home and not all of them are salt damp as Shauna found out:
“Booked an inspection with Tech-Dry, believing we had salt damp. The booking process was easy and when I needed to change the appointment time, the customer service consultant was friendly and helpful. A text with an accurate arrival time and details of the attending Tech-Dry consultant was sent in the lead up to the appointment and I could not commend David higher on his advice and professionalism. As it turns out, we didn't have salt damp and won't be needing further service from Tech-Dry, however would recommend their service and would not hesitate to engage them in the future should the need arise”
