Dance Hub SA
This is the official page for Dance Hub SA, Adelaide's home of independent dance.
The Dance Hub SA board have made the difficult decision to bring the organisation to a close. We recognise the impact this closure has on the dance community in South Australia. Many will be aware of the significant challenges facing the organisation since 2022. Although we have had recent project grant success it is not sustainable for us to continue without organisational funding or premises.
We applaud the foresight of Leigh Warren, the founder of LWDance Hub (now Dance Hub SA) in seeing a need for a space for and commitment to independent dance in SA and for his ongoing support as patron of Dance Hub SA. We also acknowledge Amanda Phillips for her diverse, adventurous and strategic programming throughout 2017-2023 in the roles of Associate Curator and Artistic Director of LWDance Hub and continuing as the Artistic Director of Dance Hub SA. Amanda’s programming included creative initiatives for dance on screen, inter-generational learning, mentorship, national exchanges, international connections, cross art form experimentation and supporting SA dance makers to create new work.
We recognise Jo Jacobs’ commitment and work through the company’s transition from Leigh Warren and Dancers to LWDance Hub and then Dance Hub SA until 2023. And thank Alison Currie for her interim leadership, continuing to champion Dance Hub SA’s values during this challenging time.
We would like to show our deep respect and thanks to our Chair Kylie Kerrigan for her leadership, commitment and perseverance during this difficult time, and acknowledge the significant and ongoing work of this small, voluntary board, the current and previous directors.
We would like to thank you: the community of artists, supporters, donors, audiences and fellow arts organisations. Thank you for your support!
Choreolab24 was Dance Hub SA’s final project, we poured our remaining resources into Choreolab24 to support as many artists as possible. Facilitated by Cinzia Schincariol, project’s like Choreolab24 epitomize everything Dance Hub SA stands for: supporting artists to take risks, explore new ideas, and create a connected community.
We are hopeful that whatever comes next for independent dance in SA can continue to uphold this support for artistic development, experimentation and creation.
With respect and kindness,
The Dance Hub SA Board

12th-14th July at Nexus Arts
Congratulations to the Choreolab24 dancers: Felicity Boyd, Jazzy Williamson-Gray, Rhianna Dunaiski and Beth Mooney!
Hard to express in words the beauty of your work, the commitment to your craft, your capacity to be water one moment and a grass hopper, kangaroo, a tree, a preacher, a dreaming child, a museum director, a work of art to be totally covered in honey, etc etc... the next!
Thank you for supporting each other, teaching each other, listening to each other, asking when needed and taking care of yourself as part of taking care to each other.
Choreolab24 was facilitated by Cinzia Schincariol, funded by Arts South Australia, City of Adelaide and Dance Hub SA, and supported by ADT, AC Arts, Restless Dance Theatre and Nexus Arts.

And that's a wrap for Choreolab24!
Congratulations to the 4 choreographers: Kenneth Johnson, Caroline de Wan, Fern Mines and Amelia Watson and to the 4 dancers: Felicity Boyd, Rhianna Dunaiski, Beth Mooney, Jazzy Williamson-Gray
Choreolab24 saw 4 emerging choreographers and 4 emerging dancers working alongside and together over a 3 weeks process to foster the beginning of 4 new works.
The project was facilitated by Cinzia Schincariol who worked collaboratively with the artists in creating a nurturing and fertile space to allow a deep dive in the proposed projects. On the first day Uncle Mickey offered a smoking ceremony and a Welcome to Country for all involved at the Lion Arts Studio. Additional practitioners were invited over the weeks to offer insights on specific themes that were relevant to the artists projects and practice: Jaye Haye, Sally Chance, Eduardo Sacco Caprotti, Dianne Reid and Kim Kerze.
The project culminated with a private showing at Nexus Arts where Kenny, Caroline, Fern and Amelia presented their findings, their ideas, movement sections danced by Felicity, Rhianna, Beth and Jazzy and asked some specific questions to invited guests. The evening was opened by Robert Taylor who offered a warm Welcome to Country to all present.
Congratulations to the cohort for such powerful and diverse works, for venturing in very different movement languages and for the collaborative and supportive space you have been able to create for each other.
We can't wait to see what comes next from these talented artists.
Choreolab24 was funded by Arts SA, City of Adelaide and Dance Hub SA, and supported by ADT, AC Arts, Restless Dance Theatre and Nexus Arts and wouldn't have been possible without Alison Currie.
