Erik The Wonder Dog
I came to my forever home from the RSPCA and now live with my Mum and Dad and brothers in South Aus.
Ned loves time spent in the garden
Saturday arvo snooze in the sunshine.
Angus is very content especially when he’s “in touch” with his humans.
A gorgeous day - not missing the pool too much yet.
Angus shows the humans the best way to use a chair. To think we've been doing it all wrong for so long 😯
Early morning Sunday.
Let's let the neighbours know we live here, but in a quiet respectful way...
Ned's not really possessed. Just has a little twinkle in his eye 😉
Angus doesn't have a pair of socks growing out of him.
All dogs and humans cuddled together in the one room that's completely setup. No boxes and tidy (currently...)
After a few huge days - Erik and his Bro's Ned and Angus are all resting in their new digs 400ks away from Adelaide. The cats arrived late last night and seem content today too.
More updates will follow soon.
Woohoo. Unscheduled trip to the vet!
Mum and Dad took precautions after a snakey close encounter this afternoon. Now these two are resting after all the excitement.
Their tests were all clear but we still have to monitor for symptoms for 24 hours.
We're thankful it wasn't a worse outcome.
Dad - what's happening? What's with all these boxes. I don't think I like it...
Of course, this senior chap enjoys nothing more than a good dip in the pool, regardless of the season.
It’s cooling off now at 6.00pm - Angus has had a dip in the pool and is now “coping” under the air con 🥶
Now mum and dad have Sunday mornings free we can all have extra time to play. With the sun at that angle it looks like it’s snowing indoors 😷
Some old pics from more active days.
Happy "Got ya" day to the senior and most vocal dog in our little pack.
After a brief but exciting adventure with Mummy, a certain someone is very happy to be back in the comfort of home with his brothers nearby. ❤
The boys all had a very pleasant weekend away in a gorgeous setting.
They came back very relaxed and very happy.
He’s pooped too but too macho to close his eyes 😂
Erik, Angus and Ned had a lovely morning at the beach today.
Mum and dad had a lovely quiet afternoon as a result 🥰
The minute there’s a siren…
Yes please!
Leaning into dad for a full on cuddle seems to be a successful way of ensuring he doesn't go to work this morning!
Shhh. I dont think he's realised I'm here yet! 😊
Two years since we said goodbye to Sebby 😥😥
Had been planning to follow Best Mate Dog Trainings five day plan to get Ned used to not pulling whilst on the lead. The training started yesterday - first thing they said was: "Buy one of our Halti style harnesses to lead your dog. If your dog doesn't have a big nose we recommend the Martingale collar."
Ned doesn't work like that. The minute he gets a sniff of any attempt to train him he shuts down like a wedding day camera with cheap batteries.
Any equipment - no matter how mildly aversive it may be is still aversive.
However, I am developing a new method to overcome dog walking issues and will be selling as a training package as soon as I've worked out the finer details.
Here is the progress so far after just two days. No punishment training. No aversive techniques. It's not an instant fix but it's all about reprogramming the dog.

Erik is on some new anti inflammatory meds for his arthritis. New levels of energy and willingness to charge around. This is good stuff!

Erik the Wonder Dog and Pals
My name is Erik, I came from the RSPCA in South Australia and I live on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula near Adelaide. I am an Australian Kelpie and share my home with my Sister Riley (Collie/Kelpie x) and young Brother Sebastian (Australian Kelpie) who is the newest edition to our family. I get along well with all the pets including Ernie and Jasmine (2 black cats) and the chooks and budgies that live in the garden.
My favourite things are walks with Dad, Agility with Dad, Cuddles with Mum, stealing Sebastians treats. Swimming in the pool or the sea or anywhere with water. I also like to bark and fart (very smelly) when I run around or get excited.
I hope you enjoy my page and the pictures and stories of me and my doggy mates. There is always something new to see.
