I originally come from Adelaide, South Australia,
I taught in Hong Kong from 2016 - 2021 working with kids ages 2.5 - 8 years old in learning centres and through my own private tuition. I have created my own Learning pathway, which provides a solid foundation in starting and progressing your child's English learning. Through active games, activities and creative learning methods your child can bec

Hello Everyone! 😆✌️
Flashback Thursday!
The water pressure rocket was a long term project spread over a few months. The last 15 - 20 mins of our session was spent learning about rockets, and building a piece at a time. We also learnt how to calculate material costs and split payments. It was more than just building a rocket, it required time and patience to create something of value.

Keep learning and progressing, one step at a time!
If I am to create an app, I need to know the language to work with developers.
Alongside my Bachelor of Early Childhood (Birth - 8) I will be working on building the Eduuplay App.
It's a big undertaking, and I am nervous. But the more I invest in learning and gaining understanding, my confidence grows!
Tutoring may be on hold these days, but Mr J is hard at work! 🤠✌️
Hey guys!
It's been a long while! I have been silently working on the Eduuplay app for Phonics and Sight words.
It will be assisting the Eduuplay Phonics cards set, with audio and visual assistance for students.
The traditional phonics apps I have seen on the app store use only a 'tap to sound' each letter, however this slows down reading progress due to isolating each finger movement per sound. The eye however tracks in a scanning motion when covering text. That is why I place a strong emphasis on scanning across text with students. This slide to scan feature will hopefully be one thing to set us apart from other apps out there.
For longer words, syllables will be demonstrated and highlighted for easy reference.
Now is the base stage of planning and compiling all the data. We have 149 sounds and over 440 words children can get familiar with including illustrations children can relate to.
I will post some updates from time to time. If you would like to offer ideas, or feedback. Most welcome!
Mr J 🤠✌️
Merry Christmas from the Rowe Family! 🎄🥳❤️
Hey Eduuplay Family!
Just want to share an update of what's been going on in our life.
As you all know we moved back to Australia from Hong Kong. It has taken a long time to settle in, and we are starting to get our life back on track after several months.
I have taken up a Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Arts Double Degree at Flinders University.
Rebecca will start work at Flinders hospital as a Nurse Midwife.
Both boys are growing up quickly.
Judah is super independent and exploding with confidence.
Aslan has overcome severe eczema, and is now much happier and blossoming with character.
We miss all of you back in Hong Kong, and we hope to visit one day soon.
Rowe Family.

Pretty contrasting change! What do you think it about it?
Combining Learning and Play 🙌
✌️Physical skills:
- fine motor
- hand and eye coordination
- pincer grip
🤓 Mental skills:
- spatial recognition
- 3D object recognition
- sorting
- counting
- numerical order
- creativity
1. Objects are chosen to match a quantity.
2. Trace the outlines.
3. Place down the Wipeable number cards.
4. Choose similar objects that vary slightly, ie. In length, size, shape, colour.
5. Place all objects in a sorting tray or a box.
6. The child sorts through and selects the matching objects, counting as they do it.
7. The board gets completed, and the child has a go to trace the number card.
8. Time to build something creative with the pieces!

Creative playground! 🤩
During my research on playgrounds I stumbled upon the work of Cas Holman. She was part of the design team that came up with Imagination Playground. This new playground design puts the art of play directly into the child's hands. They can create endless landscapes and the possibilities are endless!

Zoo and Zoom! 🍃🐨
Combined trip to Adelaide Zoo with Judah and Nana, and a HK School Zoom Tour for a class of 20 Primary students.
Knowing the Alphabet in order does nothing for overall phonetic awareness and application.
However, it does get kids to articulate the letter names and will most definitely get stuck in their head...and yours! 😅
Combining Music and Letter recognition. Just a little 2 min game for practice. Kids love to hit things anyways!
Hello Everyone!
It's been a long journey coming back to Australia with my young family. Things are quiet with Eduuplay, as we start to sort our new life out.
A fresh idea. 🤠
I recently got a call from a Hong Kong school to help run a VR meeting in 🇦🇺 for primary students. They usually run overseas trips for their students, however they are cancelled due to covid.
I am excited to see how things work out, as it reminds me of our Zoom adventure, but I can actually be outside! 🐦
I am thinking to try something like 'Blippi,' but going live with a group of children (5-10 kids) in a real, interactive 🇦🇺 environment. Children can ask questions and get feedback over a 20 - 30 min English session.
Who would be interested?

Hey Everybody!
I'm Mr Jamie! I originally come from Australia and now I live in Hong Kong with my wife and son, Judah.
I have been teaching in Hong Kong for the past four years working with kids from N1 - P4 in learning centres and through private tuition.
I am currently the Founder and Head Teacher at Eduuplay- Private ‘home and online’ tuition for Early Years Children (3 - 7 years old).
Over the past few years I have observed and formulated learning pathways to support the English Development of students here in Hong Kong. I base my teaching ethos on these principles:
- Play
- Get Active
- Curiosity
- Imagination
- Creativity
- Self Discipline
- Respect for oneself, others and the environment.
I currently have two private “home based” courses that cater for children aged 3 years to 7 years old:
Each course is progressive as follows:
K1-K3 (English through Play) > K2-P2 (50/50 Oral and Phonics)
- English through Play is all about communication through Play, learning fine and gross motor skills and practical life skills that they can take through life. Children subconsciously download vocabulary, sentence patterns and related actions to express oneself. Children start their phonic’s journey looking at the foundation stage of sounds - The Alphabet.
It is also a ‘skill-equipping’ stage before moving into 50/50 Oral and Phonics.
“Building a child’s confidence and enjoyment in using the English language is key for this session.”
- 50/50 Oral and Phonics builds upon the skills learnt in our ETP sessions, or from the results in our initial assessment. Children in this stage have the skills to communicate themselves and have a solid understanding of their alphabet sounds to begin further Phonics development. The session looks to progress the child’s use of the language in real world scenarios through Roleplay or Outdoor Missions. We look to systematically build the child’s Sightword bank and known vocabulary each week, as this is directly related to later reading success.
“With our step by step approach, children feel supported - not overwhelmed. They begin to realise the potential they have, and their motivation is internally driven. This propels them into taking on new challenges and their confidence begins to soar.”
I have recently began online learning creating Zoom Adventures.
- Online Group Zoom Adventures cover 45mins - 60mins. Children get active, involved and engaged in an English Speaking environment online. It has similar sections to our 50/50 session, we cover Phonics Development and Sightword acquisition. There are three levels to cater for children’s varying abilities. The session flows from academic to imaginative as we go into our session’s Adventure. Children learn natural dialogue that is relevant to the environment. We explore the real world in high definition, using images, videos and drama style interactive play. Each week has a new theme to be engaged in!
“Online doesn’t have to be boring. We captivate children’s imaginations, and open new world’s of possibilities.”
