This week at Rosemont House, we had two special visits from the local dentist, Burnside Dental Practice, in honor of Dental Health Week. The dentist shared some really important tips on how to keep our teeth healthy and strong. One key takeaway was that we should brush our teeth twice a day- once in the morning and once before bed. They explained that brushing is essential to remove plaque and prevent cavities, and using fluoride toothpaste helps to strengthen our teeth. The dentist also emphasized that it’s important for parents to help us with brushing, especially if we’re still learning.
Pyjama Week is all about raising funds and awareness for children in foster care. Help us help raise the much needed funds. Pyjama foundation was founded in 2004 to give children in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence. We are holding a “Pyjama Week” at Rosemont this year so all children can join in the fun. The dates are July 15th to 19th.

This afternoon, we hosted “Biggest Afternoon Tea” to raise money for the cancer council a cause we hold very close to our heart’s. It provides a wonderful opportunity to discuss with the children the importance of communities coming together to support vital research and services.
The RAA visited the children today to enrich our ongoing discussions on safety. They focused on the critical topic of road safety, teaching the children essential skills and practices to ensure they stay safe when crossing the road. The visit reinforced the importance of being vigilant, following traffic signals, crossing the road when and where, helping the children to understand and apply safety measures in their daily lives.
The visit from Life Education was a tremendous success at Rosemont House. It provides our children with valuable knowledge and practical skills to keep themselves safe in various situations. The visit was focused on teaching about safety in different contexts, including sun, water, car, and road safety. It was an educational and interactive experience. By making safety education enjoyable and interactive, the Life Education team helped instill these essential lessons in a way that will stay with the children for years to come. This visit not only enhanced the children’s understanding of safety but also empowered them to make safe choices in their daily lives. Healthy Harold has been visiting children for 40 years.
Starting with the shared experience of making the donuts, we took turns in measuring, mixing and baking the donuts. With the highlight of course being decorating. Each child could unleash their creativity, choosing from an array of toppings to design their perfect donut. The environment buzzed with excitement as the children showed off their masterpieces. We also took a moment to explain the reason behind donut day. This day was established in 1938, by the Salvation Army and was created to honour the women who served donuts to the soldiers in World War 1. Let’s remember the historical significance behind the day, where we aim to teach the children the value of kindness, service and community. It adds a layer of fun, reminding us all that behind every celebration there can be a deeper purpose. A piece of history that emphasizes compassion and support of others.
📚Simultaneous Storytime 2024📚. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres and other places around the country. This is the 24th year and we were one of 21, 969 locations that joined in. The author Aura Parker has picture books that are joyful with a playful sense of humour, brimming with details to explore that inspires imagination, courage and confidence as well as a love, curiosity and passion for nature.

As we look on this past year, we are filled with gratitude for our incredible Rosemont House Community. Our educarers are truly specialists in their field, and their dedication and passion make a huge difference in the lives of each child who walks through our doors. We value the contributions of all our educarers at Rosemont and are grateful for the growth and development they have brought to our community. While we have said farewell to some, their impact and dedication will always be remembered. We are also excited to have welcomed new educarers who will bring fresh ideas and energy to our team. We have remained committed to our Montessori philosophy and have continued to provide a nurturing and enriching environment for the children. We are also grateful to the families who have entrusted us with their child’s education and to the graduates and the children who are leaving us in 2023 for allowing us to be part of their learning journey. Thankyou for all your support and for being part of our wonderful community.

The care of the environment is a cornerstone of the Montessori philosophy. Montessori educarers strive to create an environment that is orderly, clean, and aesthetically pleasing, and which encourages children to interact with the natural world. Montessori classrooms are designed to be safe, nurturing places that foster creativity, critical thinking, and respect for the environment. Placing flowers in the environment, either inside or outside the classroom, is a way to further emphasize the importance of caring for the environment. Flowers bring beauty and can serve as a reminder of the importance of care and respect for our environment. 🌸 🌺
Practical life takes full advantage of each child’s motivation to learn new things. Practical life is purposeful, develops motor control, coordination, independence, concentration and a sense of responsibility. Two main areas are supported to develop: care of self and care of environment. “Never help a child with a task at which he or she feels they can succeed”- Maria Montessori
We learned about the importance of staying safe when using fire, such as never leaving a fire unattended and keeping a bucket of water close by. We had the opportunity to cook some sausages on the fire and they were delicious. The fire ban season starts on the 15th of November in the Adelaide Metropolitan area. So we enjoyed the last one for the year. Marshmallows are the chosen delight for the next outdoor cooking experience.
“A grandparent is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend”. Thankyou to all the grandparents, parents and special friends who came and joined morning tea this morning.
Perfect day to enjoy the weather. We had a blast learning and playing together. Exploring through water painting, washing the dinosaurs and exploring our creativity through painting with different colours. Climbing was part of the fun as we extended our gross motor skills. It was a great morning filled with lots of fun.
Every day, 2 Australian families are given the heart-breaking news that their child has cancer.
During September, our preschool educator Katrina is walking 100km's to raise funds for Camp Quality to support their services and programs to help children aged 0-15 years old who are dealing with their own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a brother, sister, mum or dad.
By creating positive memories, Camp Quality helps change the cancer story for kids and their families. Please support my walk to give kids and families the break from cancer they urgently need. As they say at Camp Quality “laughter is the best medicine”, so please give generously, if you can, so we can spread those smiles far and wide.
Thank you so much

Care of Environment teaches the children to be mindful of their environment and learn how to care for and respect it. Additionally, the tactile nature of the shaving cream helps the children to learn about texture and the importance of cleanliness. The children are also encouraged to clean up after themselves , further reinforcing the importance of environmental care.
