Thank you Ben Moyle, the Captain of the Albury & Border Rescue Squad - VRA Rescue NSW, for coming along to our meeting and updating us on what's been happening in the squad. Such a dedicated and talented group of locals who are there when needed. We enjoyed hearing about the updated equipment and enhanced technology that is now being used.
All our Rotary Exchange Students were all with us on the night as well - both our long and short term students. It was lovely to meet Valeria who has just arrived from Spain for a year. Farewell to Marghe who will head home soon after her 3 month stay - she'll be back! Her host sister Elsie will then join her later in the year. It is such a great program and with the huge smiles, they are clearly enjoying themselves.
Welcome to Australia, Albury and our Club Valeria. Looking forward to meeting you soon. A huge thank you to Melissa and Izzy for the great welcome.
After a VERY long wait for her visa, our last student has finally arrived in Australia!
Valeria comes to us from the Rotary Club of Santander Sardinero in Spain and will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Albury NSW.
Welcome Valeria!
This is a fabulous program that has been running successfully for a number of years all over Australia. Last night we had 2 wonderful speakers attend our meeting, both Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) graduates - Natalie Hood and Tim McLaren from PCYC Albury. It was interesting to hear first-hand how attending the course assisted them in their careers and lives.
If you are interested in attending or know someone who maybe suitable please get in contact.
Happy 45th Birthday PCYC Albury!!
Tim McLaren, the Club Manager of Alburys Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) visited last night to update us on all the wonderful things they are doing. In celebrating the milestone, they are reflecting on our community and all the connections and opportunities that PCYC provides.
We have always been strong supporters of the PCYC and it was great to hear of the upgrades to the outdoor area with funding we provided. Great to hear of a partnership, thru one of our members, with the Thurgoona Mens Shed. They are making some long picnic tables for the space.
It was a delight Tim and we look forward to seeing you in October and November when we again run 4 days of our Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) at the PCYC.
The Rotary Club of Albury has been representing the Good Friday Appeal in Albury for nearly 4 decades. Brett Perston has been leading the project for the last 20 of those years and it was this dedication that was recognised recently at a Good Friday Appeal thank you dinner.
Congratulations Brett on your leadership and dedication to the Royal Children's Hospital Appeal. It's not why you do what you do but, it is nice to be acknowledged. Thank you to our wonderful Community who supports the annual Appeal.
What a great night we had supporting the Tradies Health night at Total Tools. Thanks for asking us to come in to cook up some snags for our local tradies.

Our future RYE student Izzy. Congratulations on being selected to attend Izzy!
Last week Year 10 student Izzy Anstis attended the CSIRO Young Future Shapers STEM Camp in Adelaide. She was one of just 25 students from across Australia selected to attend and has had an amazing experience. Throughout the weeklong camp, Izzy met many leading scientists, including Forensic Soil Scientist Dr Rob Fitzpatrick and Amanda Meys, the CSIRO Chief Remote Pilot who specialises in drone technology. The highlight of her trip was the astronomy workshop, where Izzy got to stargaze using advanced telescopes, photographed a nebula and saw the Jewel Box star cluster. This fantastic opportunity has broadened Izzy's outlook on potential careers in STEM and we couldn't be prouder of you!

And that's a wrap for our Circus Quirkus program for another year. Over 1,000 very lucky circus goers were thoroughly entertained today at the 3 very energetic shows.
Watching the amazing and very, very bendy Gemima Jones and the Gibaldis. Lots of laughs and amazing tricks not to be performed at home!!
Thank you for coming and a huge thank you to the many local businesses who support this by buying tickets. The laughs and the huge smiles on the special kids and adults that attended are a sight to behold.
Wow wow!! It is a totally full house here at our 1st Circus Quirkus show of the day. Local schools have packed the place out for this very special show proudly hosted by our Club.
Thank you to all our wonderful local businesses who bought tickets for the 3 shows that will happen today. The tickets are then distributed to the circus patrons. The laughter, clapping and cheers are truly deafening and a real delight to hear. ๐ฅฐ๐
The 96th changeover dinner for the Rotary of Albury was held last night.
We had many special guests attend as we farewelled Glen Nagle as President and welcomed our new President for 24-25, Michael Kliese.
We proudly presented a cheque to Country Hope for $24,200 and also welcomed our new board.
Packed up and leaving Nalauwaki village with a host of new friends and some wonderful memories. A sad farewell after our short stay - everything is in place for the classroom building to continue so hopefully a new school for the new year.
Bula, Bula and vanaka
Unfortunately this will be the dinner I attend in Nalauwaki village on Monday night when the RCA changeover dinner is on. The RAWCS trip dates clash but I extend best wishes to incoming President Michael Kliese and the Board for 24/25 Rotary Year.
Apologies Peter E.
A doctor, dentist and nurses from the Fiji health department visiting the Nalauwaki village - 1st time in 5 years - but certainly helpful for the village community.
Huge job to unload the building materials off the barge onto the beach - next step to relocate them all to the next bay closer to the school site by village boats at high tide or carried around the beach at low tide. All hands helping from the Nalauwaki village.
The start of an amazing adventure - purchased $80k of building materials, load it onto the barge all 70 tons
Then a 5 hours trip to Waya island off Fiji
Unloading the next challenge and tide dependent. Another RAWCS project.
Welcome to Margherita who arrived in Australia last week! She is here for the Short Term Exchange Program from Cremona, Italy.
She will be hosted by her exchange sister Elsie who will head to Margheritaโs family in November.
Enjoy your time in Australia! ๐ฆ๐บ๐ฎ๐น

Last night we celebrated the return of past members Scott and Simone - warmly welcomed back to the Club after a short break. While there community service didnโt go into recession enjoying several cancer research fund raising - shi car rallies, we are delighted to have them back.

Itโs time to say goodbye to our RYE student Romy. Itโs amazing how fast 12 months flies by! Romy has made the most of every opportunity during her year in Albury and will be missed by our members. We have seen a lot of growth in this young lady from being shy and reserved to now being confident and outgoing. She has faced a few challenges throughout her year but took them in her stride and became a stronger person. Hope to see you again one day Romy ๐ฉ๐ช๐ฆ๐บ
